Three of its members – including the former Council president – are facing calls from President Joe Biden to resign after a recording surfaced of them participating in a closed-door meeting in which racist language was used to mock colleagues while they schemed to protect Latino political strength in Council districts.

The Council will attempt to reconvene Wednesday, possibly to censure the three members cited by Biden. A Tuesday meeting was nearly derailed when a raucous crowd of protesters packed the chamber, calling for the resignation of those involved in the meeting — former City Council President Nury Martinez, who is taking a leave of absence, and Councilmen Kevin de Leon and Gil Cedillo, all Democrats.

The Council cannot expel the members — it can only suspend a member when criminal charges are pending. A censure does not result in suspension or removal from office.

Three current or former Council members have been indicted or pleaded guilty to corruption charges, and it’s possible resignations in coming days could create new vacancies.

In the short term, it’s a looming question if the Council can assemble the required 10 members — out of 15 total — to conduct business on Wednesday, when coincidentally Biden will be in town.

Politically they are fine. Weather wise they suck sweaty ball sacks.

The wife has asthma and can’t deal with high humidity without major breathing problems. Plus she doesn’t want to live somewhere we would have to deal with hurricanes on a regular basis.

I have visited all the states that I mentioned (besides North Carolina) and I wouldn’t want to live in any of them.

We have plans to visit North Carolina in the future.

Tennessee has partial reciprocity and I wouldn’t mind living there. I really enjoyed my time there. But it would mean jumping through more hoops than the other states.
The humidity does suck out here, but I would say the one upside is when I visit places like the desert southwest, Vegas, etc etc the dry heat doesn't bother me at all because heat with the extreme humidity is far worse.

Nashville is a good place though, a lot of construction going on there but good town (although it's been infiltrated by liberals now too, so not sure how long it will last). No state income tax is nice.

I have been to Charlotte once and liked it, several of my friends moved there for work and they love it. Another good (and somewhat under the radar) place here in the SE is Greenville SC. Love that town, it's clean & very well run, politically not stupid and safe but the humidity would be an issue probably.

And yesterday he told folks that his son (rest his soul) was killed in Iraq. The MSM absolutely sucks, If there's one thing Trump did right, he completely exposed these frauds for the Democrat propaganda machine they are.

This is simply outrageous. Just outrageous. But what's even more concerning are some of the comments where folks excuse this type of conduct. I hope this guy sues and bankrupts the county. Yes, it's the judge's fault but people need to know there are consequences to their decisions that affect others. I can't even tell you how angry this makes me.

The courts are out of control as judges are beginning to act outside the constitution. Who puts the judges back in their place?

This is where a balanced DoJ steps in and charges this activist judge with violation of civil rights. And they should charge him criminally. But they won't.....because the DoJ is completely corrupted.

The outspoken Kanye West contended in a new interview that George Floyd died of the drug fentanyl, and not from the actions of the Minnesota police officer who was convicted of his murder.

“They hit him with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that."

Illinois Politics...

Dems being Dems

"La Schiazza conspired in 2017 with former Speaker Michael J. Madigan, Madigan's close friend, Michael McClain, and others, to corruptly arrange for $22,500 to be paid to a Madigan ally... Although the members of the conspiracy formulated a pretextual assignment for Madigan's ally to disguise why the ally was being paid, the ally performed no actual work for AT&T Illinois and had no role in advancing the legislation," the Justice Department said.

Madigan and McClain were previously indicted on racketeering and bribery charges. A new superseding indictment adds an AT&T-related conspiracy charge. Madigan, a Democrat, was House speaker for all but two years between 1983 and 2021, before resigning. The original "22-count indictment accuses Madigan of leading for nearly a decade a criminal enterprise whose purpose was to enhance Madigan's political power and financial well-being while also generating income for his political allies and associates," the Justice Department said in March.
