I'm not that impressed with deepseek. It can go out on the web and fetch stuff for you or to use for itself to answer questions but other than that I see no real advantage over other AI models and with one very significant disadvantage - deepseek doesn't do imaging of any kind. It's strictly text only. Can't upload files to it either. Not sure what all the fuss is about.

And this doesn't even compare to the exponential jump in computing power. That's measured by how many transistors we can embed in a single one square inch silicon chip. That number is increasing exponentially and soon the rate of increase itself will become exponential. This is called The Singularity. It rapidly approaches.

China is full of shit, whatever they say it costs, they spent more, whatever they say it can do, it will fall short and censorship will override an accurate truthful answer, especially if it involves any criticism of the CCP or Xi Jinping. Dont expect to get much of an answer or anything resembling the truth related to the CCP. Test it out by bringing up Tiananmen Square, compare Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh, refer to the Chinese government as Use CCP vs CPC, ask what "8964" refers to

I wouldnt download that app or Tik Tock, by all accounts they rob your data blind and who knows what else they have in mind or do

Back in the early 1970s when I attended college a small group of Chinese students attended the Science and Engineering college I attended. It was clear then that China was exporting students to the US to learn in our system and return to China with the knowledge they gained. I am sure the thinking was to allow them in because it was good faith and would expose them to America's freedom. We were probably hoping they would take the desire for freedom back to China with them. But all they did was take back an American education and begin to develop their own advanced technology. I still think the biggest mistake we ever made was opening up China when they were content to stay behind their own dark curtain.

This is why I have the view that the human race will never see another race from another place. It's a sort of a calculus curve where warp drive spacecraft cannot be made and used before civilization annihilates itself, and starts from scratch again somewhere down the timeline, only to do it all again in some form, rinse and repeat.

Annihilates itself orrrr as Kurzweil and some other futurists believe, evolve into non corporeal digital beings. Envisioning a world where when we die we have three choices - cremation, burial or upload to the Singularity! Immortality living in a holodeck doing seeing and experiencing anything everything and everyone you wish. As you wish.

As one of my friends puts it, all we have to do today is live long enough to live forever.

2029 is the year AI reaches human intelligence and 2045 is the year Kurzweil predicts we will reach the Technological Singularity and his theory is we will merge with machines. He says of this:

I don't quite buy the whole merging thing I have some issues with physical laws not the least of which is thermodynamics but I can visualize a scenario where we've used AI to develop technology which will allow us to download our life force or "soul" to the Singularity. And achieve the end I describe above.

Orrrr as has been mentioned here before and also by other futurists, it may well simply annihilate us.

Thanks for clarifying, my bad

How do you use their AI?
I used it once the other day to see if it could solve a coding problem I had. It was like asking Nick Bockwinkel what time is it. He'd build you a watch!

Over verbosity is one of the big problems of all AI, I suppose the designers think it makes it look more human but it's actually a dead giveaway. I'll be impressed when one comes out which is capable of brevity.

Do you have to create an account, sign a TOS and login to use it?

Now - of course you MUST be careful where you download it from! Use ONLY the official app store of your phone's distro.

so there is a download? If so, I bet there's a TOS thats onerous as hell, have you ever herd whats in the TikTok TOS?
