I'll agree on Martin (as a guy who desperately wanted us to draft Manziel or a linebacker).
I still think Jerry - in the one moment in his life he went against his ego and instincts - made a big mistake not taking Manziel at #16. I keep thinking you could have had Martin later anyway. And Manziel was at the top of their board when they passed on him.

I'll agree with that. Romo has maybe 2-3 left in him with the back injuries. Manziel could have been our Aaron Rodgers.

I think he is better out of the box than any other backup QB on the roster right now. And Romo, at 34 and with back problems already.... The bolded might be games not years.

Hell no. One, I don't Manziel will make it at this level, and two, Martin wouldn't have made it much further than he did.

Oh, and I"m all about drafting Romo's replacement very soon. This just wasn't the year. Next year there is more QB talent on the board, so maybe then if we get lucky and one falls to us.

I think Manziel (as an A&M fan who watched every snap he took) needs a year or two to lean. I can count the times he took a snap from center on one hand. He did it well at his pro day, but that is a whole other ball game. I think he has the work ethic to make it at the NFL level, he just needs to learn the NFL game. He ran a pretty complex offense at Texas A&M, and by all accounts was a locker room leader, despite the off field stuff and media attention. It would have been a nice pickup. Problem is, he would be thrown to wolves the first time Romo struggled. Just like he will in Cleveland, and it will hurt him.

Both are as possible as the other, agreed.

Might not need one to fall. Might have the #2 or 3 overall pick.

A&M running that "Air Raid" offense, very similar to Dallas' scheme but nothing like Cleveland's. He'll see more time under center in Cleveland than he has since high school. Not sure he is the Day One starter in Cleveland though, either.

Manziel is going to bust harder than a virgin at a porn shoot.

I'd be in no rush to draft Romo's replacement. The Cowboys will have one the league's worst records once Romo is gone. Get your QB then, when you can have the pick of the litter.

I'm sure this is a total accident on Jerry's part (blind squirrel & acorn), but building the OL before acquiring the starting rookie QB makes much sense. Otherwise you are setting up your rookie QB for failure.

I'd love to see that tested beyond just the little bit it has been, but thus far without Romo Dallas has somehow managed to do as well, .500 ball. But I'd like to see a whole season without him so this nonsensical canard can be put to rest for good.

Translation: Tony Romo is no Bill Bates
