Terrell McClain Impressing Coaching Staff

Journeyman defensive tackle Terrell McClain, who quietly signed with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, has been among the most impressive players on the field through OTAs, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

“He’s one of those guys who doesn’t say anything to anybody,” head coach Jason Garrett said, per the Dallas Morning News. “He’s just quiet and goes to work every day. But he’s absolutely one of the guys who is showing up the most in these first eight OTA practices. He has great intensity in all that he does. He flashes some ability. We really like how he goes about his business.”

McClain was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2011 draft, out of South Florida. He spent time with New England and Houston before coming to Dallas, his fourth team. In four years of service, McClain has a modest 20 tackles and a single sack.

“He’s not the typical zero nose tackle in a 3-4 defense where he just sits over the center and two-gaps,” Garrett said. “That hasn’t been his mode since he’s been playing. He’s always been a guy who has been on an edge, being able to play up field a little bit. We’re definitely seeing some of that through these OTAs.”

Broaddus has really been talking him up, says he has been really impressive so far.

Looking forward to seeing him in preseason.

I'm skeptical about how good a NT can look in a padless practice.

Think I'll put more weight on his four years of tape playing actual NFL games.

Didnt they say he had basically been playing more of a 3-4 NT position everywhere else?

That isnt how he is going to be used here.

He'll be used basically the same way he was in Houston

Houston doesnt play the same scheme we do. I dont see many, if any similarities between Wade's defense while he was there, and Rod Marinelli's defense wherever he's been at.

Why not. They're both one-gapping between the center and guard most of the time.

So because I don't believe Romo is one of the greatest players in the history of football, I shit all over him?

He's a good player. He isn't Roger Staubach or Troy Aikman or even close IMO. It doesn't mean I think that he sux.

But he does come up small in the games that matter the most too often.

That's a garbage ass statement . You've proven to be a lazy debater so I'm not gonna pull up the facts. Just know that I don't like you

I think the fact that he is looking good has alot to do with the talent level around him. When a jag like this comes in and impresses the coaches this much, what does that say about the scrubs that are on this roster? When the regular season gets here, this guy will show his real talent and ability. Just another jag that they are building up to give the fans hope.

That'd still be an improvement over most of what we trotted out last yr

Dude... MB4 is exactly right. You shat on him all season about him losing arm strength, checking out of runs, blah blah blah. I've never claimed he's "one of the greatest players in the history of football" and you and I argued about him every fucking week. The fact that you're denying that now makes me question your sanity.
