I think we'll see a few moves for sure over the weekend.
QB (2): Prescott, TBD. Romo moves to IR to return I think.
RB (4): Zeke, Morris, Jackson, Dunbar or TBD. I think Rod Smith ran the ball pretty decent last night and he does play special teams like Keith Smith, but neither is a real FB. I wouldn't waste a spot on Dunbar either but the team probably will. I'd look outside to see if a decent FB option was available. I think McFadden will be traded if he is ready to get on the field, otherwise he goes to NFI/PUP. As I mentioned previously, keeping Dunbar and/or McFadden at the expense of Jackson seems like total idiocy to me. Jackson is far younger, healthier, has upside AND a lot cheaper plus he's signed for three years. Dunbar and McFadden are both only 1 yr left at significantly higher cost.
WR (5): Dez, T Williams, Beasley, Butler, Whitehead. None of the others showed enough warrant a spot. Mayle and Jones seem like PS candidates.
TE (4): Witten, Swaim, Escobar, Traylor or TBD. Wouldn't be surprised if some TE needy team had a little interest in Escobar. Traylor makes it as 4th unless they find another option via wire. If Escobar is traded the 4th TE would be waiver guy or maybe a true FB. I think Swaim has probably overtaken Escobar here as 2nd TE while Hanna is on PUP. Hanna might be doen for year anyway.
OL (9): T Smith, Collins, Fred, Martin, Free, C Green, Leary, Looney. I think the 9th OL isn't on the roster right now. If it is, maybe its Brendel. If Leary is traded (unlikely now IMO) then there might be two additions.
DL (9*): Irving, T Crawford, T McClain, Mayowa, Thornton, Collins, J Crawford, Tapper, maybe Okoye. I think Russell's ho- hum preseason play moves him off the roster. Okoye isn't ready for action yet but could be in a year and he made enough plays in preseason that someone might claim him if we try to stash him on PS. I think they'll (hopefully) try hard to find a legit DE via trade option and if so, I think Russell is gone. Tapper might be headed to IR as well. *I am assuming Lawrence and Gregory don't count against the 53 while suspended.
LB (7): Lee, Hitchens, Wilbur, Gachkar, Nzeocha, Wilson, Durant. Deon King was all over the place last night, had he played that way all preseason he might have made the team. Akunne is an interesting PS guy too. I think they like Durant but he was invisible vs Seattle. I dont know if Wilson is a lock either. Wouldn't surprise me if another veteran (or two) was added or here, especially considering Gachkar and Nzeocha are injured right now.
CB (4 or 5): Scandrick, Claiborne, Carr, Brown- Olatoye/Swanson or TBD: Brown looks like a real keeper and showed playmaking skill last night on that pick-6 that few of our DB's have in recent years. I think Olatoye had earned a spot before last night, but he was REALLY bad and might cause them to think twice. Swanson has some talent, had a history of making picks in college and showed some explosive skill as a return guy in preseason. He also played pretty well last night on defense. He might end up bumping Olatoye. They could also look elsewhere for 5th CB, although B Jones gives them some flexibility there too.
FS/SS (4): B Jones, Church, Heath, Frazier or TBD. I think Wilcox is gone. Frazier wasn't exactly lighting it up but has made a couple good deflection on pass plays during preseason and is cheaper, with upside. If they don't think Frazier is ready for active roster a vet could be added instead.
ST (3): Bailey, Jones, LaDouceur
That's 51 or 2. If Romo stays on active roster he's #52/53, leaving potentially one other spot open. Maybe its one of the Smith RB's. Ideally I think it might be another position.
I think after what we saw in preseason its absolutely critical they do something at DE. LB might be a sleeper position to watch for a veteran upgrade.
I think we could see 3 or 4 new guys here by Sunday evening.
