Sportsbook: Jason Garrett most likely NFL head coach to get fired this season
By Jon Machota

OXNARD, Calif. – Jerry Jones says this isn’t a make or break season for Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, but the folks in the gambling world don’t seem to believe him.

According to the online betting site Sportsbook.ag, Garrett has the highest odds to be the first NFL coach fired this season.

Garrett leads the way at +400, followed by Buffalo’s Doug Marrone at +550 and Oakland’s Dennis Allen at +600.

Garrett was asked about his coaching future following a press conference to open this year’s training camp.

“I really don’t think about it at all,” Garrett said. “We have so much to focus on as coaches to try to build this football team the way we want to build it, so that’s where our focus is. That’s been my focus since Day 1.

“It was my focus as a player, just try to be the best player each and every day and I certainly try to do that as the head coach of this team with our staff, with our players, try to provide the leadership and guidance that everybody needs and that’s where my attention is, that’s where my focus is and that’s where it’s always been.”

Garrett has been the Cowboys head coach since taking over for Wade Phillips in the middle of the 2010 season. He has coached 56 games since then, posting a 29-27 record.

“The NFL gets a lot of attention,” Garrett said. “The Cowboys get a lot of attention, so we understand that. You live in the world of putting some blinders on and you focus on your job. I’ve been doing that for literally 25 years.”

And despite your focus and efforts, you were a mediocre player.

Just like you're a mediocre at best coach.

This might have alot to do with the brutal early schedule Dallas has. I can see them starting 1-4 then getting to 2-6 by the halfway mark.

*fingers crossed. I can't take anymore clapping after a 3-and-out.

Doesn't have anything to do w the schedule
If the Vegas odds are stronger than last year, sure it does. Remember - the bet is if Redball gets fired DURING the season. 2-8 start probably gets that job done.

And missed field goals, turnovers.... He claps, pats butts and says "it's okay we'll get 'em next time." No it is NOT okay, Redball dumbass!

Dallas' record would have to suck and the team would have to be out of thee divisional race.

I could see every team in the East having a subpart record,, so ....

Yeah, we're gonna be stuck with the red head for a while. Prepare yourself now. Jerry is having fun. He's got the built in excuse of Lee and Lawrence already.

They'd have to fall apart completely for him to not be back.

It sucks, but that's the way I see it. Remember, this isn't what is best for your Dallas Cowboys anymore. It is what makes Jerry happy in the morning. He doesn't want to walk on eggshells. He does want a coach that will sit to his right and slightly behind him and one who is OK with his daughter and grandson hanging around being involved.

Jason "Puppet Master" isn't going anywhere (DAMN).

junk is correct, Jerry has found his puppet coach and he let's Jerry play fantasy football with a real team. Has no idea what he's doing, but that doesn't matter. Jason just laughs and goes on

I think what could save Garrett this year is we start the first half of the schedule like 3-5, but then because of an easier 2nd half of the season, we then go 5-3 and again finish 8-8.

Jerry would cling to that 2nd half record and think Jason has turned the corner, when in reality were just playing worse teams.

Yep, or we start well and Jerry gives him an extension right there. You know he wants to.

Or injuries save him. What if Romo's back doesn't hold up? Anything less than losing out would be called a great coaching job.

Hate to say it, but I'm expecting the worst.

For some reason, I'm optimistic he's done after this year. Jerry can sense that this isn't working. For the first time that I can remember, he isn't talking Super Bowl in camp. The media no longer predicts this is the year we put it all together. Many predictions have us in the bottom 10 in the league. TC attendance is down, merchandise sales are starting to fall.

Romo going down or this awful defense won't change the fact that fans are starting to tune out. A coaching change puts Jerry back in the spotlight if we have yet another non-playoff year.

Best case scenario, IMO.... 2-4 start and THEN Romos back goes out.

Finish like 5-11.... Can't use romos injury as an excuse with such a bs start.
