Of the 16 "experts" Dallas was picked for 6 division titles, 8 wild cards (only two experts had us out of the playoffs), and two conference titles.

So yes, recent history has seen a lot of love with the Cowboys being expected to make deep playoff runs. I'm sure you will argue "he said the last three and 2009 blah blah blah" but that was an obvious exaggeration. He went off of memory like most of us would do if we were chillin at a bar talking about this instead of actually looking it up. He is correct in saying that the media has given the Cowboys the edge in recent seasons and haven't predicted us to be 9-7 every year like Jon said.

Then why can't the guy that said the Cowboys were predicted at 9-7 also be an exaggeration? It's cuts both ways.

It doesn't cut both ways. One was implying that Dallas always gets a mid-grade prediction while the other refuted that Dallas has been getting predictions in the top of the league. The results I posted to not support a mid-grade prediction theory.

I think we're a 5 win team with the roster we have right now.

Our OLine is shaky, DLine is thin, and we have no safeties.

Where we're strong we might have to cut players to get under the cap.. like WR and RB.

There's rumors we might have to cut Newman, that makes us thin at CB.

Dude. We won 6 games last year with Wade preparing the team and coaching them halfway through the year, no Romo for most of the season and with a rookie Dez Bryant for three quarters of the year.

I agree they're useless. I was actually suprised to see it on the rack. I'm of the opinion that all print media is virtually obsolete nowadays.

I checked out the Lindy's today but did not buy it. I do not understand how a usually worthless magazine is appealing especially now when there is nothing in it about free agency.

How can you make predictions when you do not even know who will be on each team?

You can go to the Barnes and Noble here and just read magazines without buying them. They've got a group of comfortable chairs and a table near the magazine section.

That's the homer mind. It's the defense mechanism to handle legit criticism. Pretend everyone just hates you.

Who is the homer? Laz, or myself?

I was right. Cythim proved it with his post. I felt no obligation to rehash what had already been said.

They got any hustlers, bottles of lotion and free gym socks there?

I think we're an 11 win team. I'm an all out homer.

I think coaching matters more in the NFL than in any other sport, and I am a big believer in Jason Garrett and his message, and I love the Rob Ryan hiring.

They've been running Jets Hard Knocks on NFL Network, and I love how Rex handles his players. They're supposed to be two peas in a pod.

I think some people sleep on a 6-10 record, and forget we started 1-7. We ended strong, and we're getting some studs back into the starting line up. Sure, we have holes, but every team in the league has holes.

So pencil me down as us going 11-5, with an opening day win against the Jets.
I say 10-6 0r 9-7 our depth will be put to the test, and as it stands we are a 6-10 team until proven otherwise.

My prediction is based on all the speculation that we're going to be way over the salary cap, and we're going to have to cut/restructure a lot of contracts just to get under it.. let alone make room for signing players.

So I'm assuming, based on that, our team isn't going to be near the same as it was.

How would restructuring contracts have an effect on the teams game day performance?

Huh?

I was saying that we're gonna have to restructure contracts to help us get under the cap.. along with cutting players. As in we don't have the cap room available to us to keep our free agents and sign any new ones. Therefore our roster isn't going to be near as talented as the 6 win team from last year. Best thing we have going for us is Tony Romo coming back.

Doug Free is expected to make bank which we can't afford. We might have to cut Roy Williams and Terrence Newman based on their contracts. Our OLine is already weak. As is our depth behind Williams and Newman. Our whole DLine except for Ratliff are free agents. We have zero safeties capable of playing in the league.

Like I said, based on the speculation that we're going to be over the salary cap... I see all of that as a major problem.

Yeah, except it's not.

We'll get guys to restructure their cap, and we'll be able to sign talented free agents to reasonable deals.

There'll be a ridiculous amount of free agents this year. Buyers market.

Roy is easily replaceable. Free isn't going anywhere. Newman has been steady, but he's far from being irreplaceable.

Opening week, our roster will be more talented than our 2010 squad.

I would love to see Newman gone. He's right behind Roy Williams on my list of players I do not like.

This is the way I like it, flying under the radar.

It's when were expected to win we lose games.

A whole year under JG will make us a better team this year.
