From what I remember reading, they weren't even sure if the surgery would allow him to continue playing once he recovered.

He might sign back here on a one year deal if he cannot find a better deal. He'd get an opportunity to play DE and rush the passer more often, giving him a chance to get more sacks, which might mean more money.
