If Jerry went out and signed three of the biggest free agents out there, Mickey would say how aggressive we are being.

I honestly don't think he's just the official reporter of DallasCowboys.com, I believe he's Jerry's Joseph Goebles. I think Jerry tells Mickey the "plan" and Mickey goes out there and sells it. (Meanwhile, Hostile does it for free). There's no way, Spagnolia should be paid for what he does. He has zero integrity and offers nothing in football opinion or analysis.

$2 million may get you 2 cheap players. Then what will you do once the draft comes?

That's not well under. That's scraping by with a shitbag roster.

And need I remind you of some of this:

The St. Louis Rams are releasing cornerback Courtland Finnegan, who just two years ago in free agency signed a five-year, $50 million deal that was to include another $3 million roster bonus on March 13. Wasn’t worth the money, evidently.

I see also where the Falcons, after trading for cornerback Asante Samuel and signing him to a three-year, $14.7 million deal in 2012, are cutting him after two years and with but a $3.5 million base in the final year of his deal.

Oh, and how close did this come to being a nightmare for the Cowboys? At training camp in 2011 the Cowboys were all set to sign cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha for like five years, $50 million until at the last minute the Eagles came in with a five-year, $60 million offer for the ninth-year veteran, with $25 million of that guaranteed. He was cut by the Eagles after two seasons, played three games with the Niners this past year and now is retiring. Ouch.

Laughing about any of that now?
Yeah we dodged those bullets... And got Brandon Carr for $50 mils.

The differences are we don't know when to cut bait on a bad deal. We just restructure it and make it worse.

I know this sounds really idealistic considering the front office we are talking about, but I wish we would stop making these bad deals to begin with.

what would be the example of a "good" deal?

Avoiding Carr would have been a good deal. Not extendnig Ratliff when he had 2 years left on his contract would have been a good deal. Not jumping the gun and siging Austin like we did would have been a good deal.

Drafting better and signing role players instead of paying money to people with terrible attitudes and work ethics would be a good deal also.

That would be great... but I will give dbair mentality this. It's correct that all teams make bad free agent signings from time to time.

But I doubt there's a team out there that makes as many bad deals as we do and straight up refuses to get rid of them until it's too late (Ware). And when you do give out a big deal... WHY ARE YOU CHANGING SCHEMES TO MAKE WARE AND CARR EVEN LESS IMPORTANT??

You're an idiot! This new scheme frees up Ware to rush the QB without worrying about dropping back and defending the pass! You'll see!

.

Austin was a probowl calibar player in his prime when we resigned him. Carr was widely regarded as the best CB on the market that yr, and got paid accordingly. If you want to call them deals that didnt work out, ok. But saying they were "bad deals" when they were signed is not really all that accurate IMO.

Ratliff I would agree with, he didnt warrant another extension and they did it anyway. There's been other deals that have been bad too.

I think Ware would have been fine last yr if he hadnt had so many injuries. He looked explosive and sominant the first three games of the season.

Also not sure the scheme hurt Carr as much as Carr just didnt play worth a shit.

You'd think if you pay someone $50 million there would be some accountability there.

Nope
