IRVING, Texas -- Hall of Fame offensive lineman Bruce Matthews is interviewing with the Dallas Cowboys Monday about an assistant offensive line coach position, according to multiple sources.

Matthews played for offensive line coach Hudson Houck at Southern Cal and was the ninth overall pick of the 1983 draft. Matthews, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007 after reaching the Pro Bowl in 14 of his 19 seasons, spent the last two seasons as an offensive assistant with the Houston Texans.

Last week former Cowboys tight end Dan Campbell, who was an assistant with Miami in 2010, interviewed for the same position and is scheduled to meet with Houck on Tuesday for a follow-up.

HA! I suggested this a while back. Hall of Famer and he's from a great college. Can't think of it right now but I know it's a topnotch university.

Pretty sure Houck was Matthews OL coach when they were at USC.

Bruce Matthews - Hell to the yes. Our line needs all the help and advice it can get.

You are correct..................

Excerpt from Wikipedia

Houck returned to his alma mater in 1976, coaching the offensive line at Southern California. During this time, he helped send numerous Trojans to the National Football League including Marvin Powell, Pat Howell, Brad Budde, Anthony Muñoz, Keith Van Horne, Chris Foote, Roy Foster, Bruce Matthews, Don Mosebar and Tony Slaton, among others.

They should hire them both: Bruce Matthews to be the assistant Oline coach to Houck, and hire Dan Campbell as the assistant TE coach to Garrett.

That very well could be the plan.

Well don't get excited because Plymaker will come in and accuse you of having a hard on for such-and-such coach and how they are just words. It'd be great to have both of them. Campbell is credited with making Witten into the blocker and thus most well-rounded TE in the game today.
