In fact he said both coordinators might be gone
Da fuq is the holdup? Waiting for the serviceable available coordinators to be snapped up by new HCs so we can pick over the leftovers who are desperate for a job and will come to this black hole for coaches?

Most assistant coaching hires come during the week of the Senior Bowl do they not?

Well shit... I understand you might not be hiring coordinators right this second, but what's the point in waiting to fire the incumbents?

This is a ESPN redraft of the 2008 draft

Thought these comments about Carr were pretty funny

24. Tennessee Titans: Brandon Carr, CB
2008 pick: Chris Johnson

Although he's been middle-of-the-road over the past few years after a really good 2010 season, Carr has been extremely durable (starting 96 of 96 games) and is unquestionably one of bigger steals in the draft based on his rate of participation alone. The Division II product collected a big payday in Dallas before 2012.
(Carr's previous slot: No. 140 overall)

Didn't even know this guy was on the staff, but he's left:

Todd Archer ‏@toddarcher 1h
Another loss to Cowboys coaching staff: Mykal Smith has joined his father Lovie in Tampa Bay as safeties coach. Worked with DBs with Dallas

Werder and the Ticket guys this morning seem to be pretty sure that Callahan is gone. George Dunham has pretty good contacts with the team and he said the Garrett unhappiness with Callahan was very real.

In fact he said both coordinators might be gone. Seems so bassackwards to fire both but keep the head coach, but Cowboys gonna Cowboy.

Well, he probably is upset with Callahan. Even in spite of shitty playcalling, he had a higher PPG average than any year Garrett coordinated the offense except for the Sparano hand holding year of 2007.

I think my offseason hopes hinge on bringing in some OC who isn't a retread who gets full control of the offense. Not running Garrett's crappy system.

I know, it's so weird. Someone (can't remember who) said Jerry went on vacation immediately after the season end, but surely he's back by now. All the people I've heard, from Werder to Cowlishaw, act like there's some kind of negotiation going on, with Garrett wanting more power and... I dunno, Jerry debating how much to give him?

But how can all parties not have been thinking about this the last several weeks of the season, at least? You'd think they'd have a plan ready the second the final gun went off against Philly.

Makes no sense. But remember how it took Ryan a couple of weeks to be told he was fired last year.

Maybe Valley Ranch really is that big a CF.

Do you guys know how hard its going to be to land a decent coordinator?

I mean, everyone pretty much has to know Jason is a dead man walking, right?

Either that, or he's untouchable in the eyes of the owner, and coordinators are going to be made scapegoats here from year to year.

I can no longer buy the "Jerry just wants to win" narrative anymore. He is clearly only in this for money at this point.

It isnt about the money. Lacewell told Jerry Kiffin was good, thats all that matetrs.

That's why I agree with what someone was saying that most likely Jason just gets the OC/playcaller back.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the reason we haven't heard any news is that Callahan was just told, "You need to go find another job" and Jerry is hoping he'll find something at the Senior Bowl. If he fires him now he might have to pay him for sitting at home. Could be the John Garrett dance all over again.

Jerry has been known to fire coordinators only to bring them and their system back. Deion was really mad about that once.

This team has no clue what it's doing from year to year. Absolutely none.
