We should have IR'd Folk. He seems fine now with the Jets.

Not really, he was almost cut during the season last yr because he was so inconsistent.

But I do agree with the IR part. We should have waited longer. It wasnt like he was costing alot of cap space to keep around. Perhaps the staff thought he had just "lost it" and would never get it back.

2 seasons...big deal...I envy teams like Philly, NE, Indy, etc...that have kickers that they can count on for years.

If Folk wouldnt have injured his hip, we almost assuredly wouldnt be worrying about the kicker position.

That said, I wonder how people like you would have reacted if Akers and Vinatieri had duplicated some of their early seasons here in Dallas. None of you want to be patient with the kickers we trot out there and instead would rather jump off the ledge everytime a guy misses a kick. Akers missed 5 of his first 8 NFL FG's, and missed 3 PAT's his first two seasons as a fulltime kicker. He then had 3 seasons in the middle of his career where he made 72.7%, 78.3% and 75.0% of his field goals. Vinatieri is a guy universally praised as one of the best kickers of the last 15 yrs, yet he made under 80% (77.1% to be exact) of field goals his rookie yr, and missed 3 extra points that same season. 6 times in his career Vinatieri failed to make 80% of his field goals for the season, and 3 other seasons he made exactly 80%

Vinatieri is an alltimer as far as kickers go...I could give two shits on his percentage, he made them when they counted.

Akers was as well to a lesser extent.

I did not know Nick Folk was such a hero around here.

Last time I checked, they all count.

Akers was as well to a lesser extent.

Mostly against us.

I did not know Nick Folk was such a hero around here.

Who claimed he was a hero? The fact is though in 2007 and 2008, he was a really damn good kicker. He didnt live off making 25 yarders either, this guy made 45-50 and 50+ yarders like crazy.

He was 30 of 39 (not great) 76.9 pct and actually improved on his kickoffs last year. Folk had a long of 56. He also made 100% of his XP. Buehler hit 75% of FG's and missed 2 XP's last year and a long of 53.

Graham was just cut by the Redskins and although he was 100%(12 of 12) on his FG's last year, his longest was only 41.

Of those 3, I'd take Folk, no questions asked.

Thing I like best about this Graham deal: He's 90 percent betweeen 30-39 percent while Buehler is 57.1 percent.

I'm normally lousy at math but that adds up just fine to me.
