LOL, have you read the book of Revelation? (New Testament). Plenty death and torture for unbelievers. If you actually read and paid attention, i gave you Acts 5 (New Testament), story of the married couple that god killed on the spot for simply lying to the disciples. Very reminiscent of the old testament god. Your bible also says God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). In other words, old or new testament, same god. He didn’t change his mind.

Have you ever heard of The Crusaders? They killed thousands in the name of christ. Also, read the Book of of Martyrs. The happy-go-lucky church you know today was not how it was in the past.

Acts 5 doesn't say that God killed them, it says they dropped dead when they heard what the apostles told them. Aside from that, my response was to your post about Christianity being about killing unbelievers and then you quoted the Old Testament which is as I side the Old Covenant of God.

Christianity is about Jesus and the teaching of Christ the New Covenant with God, not the old Laws of the Old Testament. Jesus said He without sin cast the first stone. He also said love your neighbor as yourself.

He didn't say if you are a Christian kill non Christians. He didn't say love your neighbor unless they are Gay, Black, Hispanic, Hostile, etc.

You are going to bring up the Crusades, people will pervert any religion or any thing that people believe in passionately (look at the NRA) to gain what the want (Riches, political gain, land, power, access, many of these were reasons for the Crusades, other than Christianity), by spouting half truths and innuendo.

Christianity isn't bad, I don't care that you don't believe but at least be willing to hear a different point of view with out showing your obvious disdain.

Point is, your big issue with Christians seems to be that we can believe what we want to believe, so long as we don't push our religion on you. It's ironic because the threads that have been started, and participated in by you, regarding religion have been trying to insult Christians and otherwise push your beliefs on them.

That's all I'm saying.

Pushing religion on someone is not the same as a religious discussion. I love debates and those on religion especially, i am guilty i admit. My original post was speaking in general terms about the violence associated with religion. Because i have a lot of history as a christian i used that one as an example. I don’t push my non-religious beliefs on anyone and if you feel i am doing that to you then i apologize. I only know how to express my own honest opinions and thoughts.

Acts 5 story was put in the bible for a reason and not to show some weird coincidence. It was an attempt to scare believers into giving their all their possessions. Old or New Covenant doesn’t matter. The same god that you follow said to kill unbelievers. You can’t change that fact. BTW, Jesus does say he did not come to destroy the law (Matt 5:17)

Sure Jesus does preach “love thy neighbor” but he also makes a few interesting comments:

Matthew 10:34
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Luke 12:51
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Religion does have some positive uses (including Islam). It also brings a lot harm to the world.

Because that's the way it works, Pep. It's not allowed to speak of Christ, as that is offensive to them. But they are allowed to speak of the "fictional guy in the sky", or the separation of "fairytales" and state, and that shouldn't be offensive to a Christian at all.

If you spend less time on a sports forum and more time preaching the gospel you might actually accomplish the will of god. Just saying.

Let's see! I didn't respond to your post for what 8 hours? And you responded to my response in less than 15 mins... Who's the one spending more time on the sports forum than they should again?

That's it!! You can't help yourself. You must be a liberal. Just can't help yourself trying to baby sit everyone and educate us to how lovely life is when you believe in absolutely nothing at all. The only thing you add to this forum is Christian bashing. Why not go on over to a church's sign up forum for charity giving for abused mothers and tell them how funny they are to believe in that false God. You make about as much of an impact here as Rob Ryan on the moon.

I don’t have commands from my savior telling me to sell all my possessions and to go out and preach the gospel.

Why come SP and Everlasting, you are so insulted by Christians "pushing their religion" on you, but you are the only ones posting about religion in these parts?

It's a news thread. No need to deflect from the idiocy and horror of religion by making it about the people posting.
