The saga of the 2008 Cowboys continues. Chapter 79: Sam Hurd. I'm telling you, Boys Will Be Boys sequel could be written on that team.

all this time I thought we had a team of good guys who just cant get over the hump sans pacman, tank and owens who are not good guys.

i will be so deflated if in the end we have a bunch of prima donna over paid substance abusers we have all been duped by.

Not for nothing, but I'm going to use this as an excuse for why Hurd never reached his potential.

While he didn't have the natural physical gifts of Austin (size/speed), Hurd was a good natural receiver who did attack the ball and was never a body catcher. I liked him as much as I liked Austin when we got them both, and thought they both would pan out.

If Hurd had applied himself, instead of trying to be a modern-day Scarface... there is little doubt in my mind that he would've gone on to have have a productive career, and would likely be entrenched at worst as a #3 receiver here in Dallas.

as far as other nfl people being involved.

is it wrong of me to hope that Deion Sanders and pacman are somehow involved?

i really hope sanders is a tremendous cokehead and gets locked up so i never have to see or hear from him again.

he was recently using pacman to pick up young woman for him to bang, maybe he supplies them some coke through hurd....

fingers crossed.

I dont think he was ever that talented. He was a superior special teamer and that is where he would always make his money in the nfl. The fact that he could play a few snaps in a pinch at wr became a bonus.

Report: Hurd’s drug clients included many NFL players
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 15, 2011, 3:48 PM EST

The drug arrest of Bears receiver Sam Hurd is a story that could become a serious public relations problem for the NFL.

We told you how Hurd is accused of trying to buy more than $575,000 worth of cocaine and marijuana every week from an undercover agent. 670 The Score in Chicago has more troubling news for the league.

A law enforcement source told Laurence Holmes of 670 that Hurd was one of the top drug dealers in Chicago. Police obtained a list of NFL players who were supplied drugs Hurd and the number is “in the double digits.”

Considering Hurd already allegedly dealing drugs while in Dallas, this could create problems in at least two NFL cities. And it could create the impression, at a minimum, that the NFL’s drug testing is pretty easy to get around.

Sounds like this guy is embellishing and trying to be the first to throw this out. I mean really. He comes to Chicago back in July and within months he's already one of the largest drug dealer in that city? Yeah right. And we're just now finding out about this? If he is one of the top drug dealers in Chicago, then that means he has stepped on alot of toes and taken over alot of turf in a matter of months, without any bloodshed and without anybody long before dropped the dime on him.

And it's natural to assume that he sold drugs to NFL players, even though there is no evidence.

that pro football crap article that says he might have sold to other nfl players and people in dallas and chicago should be worried is pretty irresponsible.

all these players in this league know each other. Tons of Pro athletes from the nfl and every other sport live in DFW year round or at least the offseason.

Realistically Sam Hurd could have been selling to players he knew here in DFW who played for other nfl teams. Lots of guys live here.

Time will tell. I hope deion and pacman are involved...

Yeah this is not good for our team/players. If that stuff is true, he's in way to deep to not have been involved in it here in Dallas. And I would wager that some players still here know a lot about it, even if they're not "involved" somehow.

I dont think its too serious..if our guys dont fail any drug tests..and they arent involved in any of the actual distributing then it isnt serious enough to even worry about..

I couldn't make this up: Sam Hurd co-founded a clothing line with Martellus Bennett in 2010 called ... Rockit Dope. http://rockitdope.com/
