Or so they say. I don't believe thier bullshit.

It's always something every year. We went into Iraq and made even quicker work of them in 2004 or whenever it was than in 1991.

Maybe. It does seem an odd time to slash the navy, just as China and Russia are building up theirs.

Obama didn't mind having cruise missiles when he attacked Libya because he was bored.

I'm sure it's just a smokescreen. We have all kinds of secret programs that the public doesn't know about.

We're light years ahead of everyone else. That started after WWII when we brought all the former Nazi military experts and scientists over.

The playing field is much more level now thanks to all the stuff the Chinese and Russians have stolen.

I wonder if Putin would be so aggressive if we still had a sizable force in the EU and the missile defense system was up and running.

I'm certainly not an Obama fan, but was he really the one saying "Hey, let's get rid of the Tomahawk!" Seems like the Navy is pushing it. And it certainly seems like these articles are somewhat misleading.

http://www.dodbuzz.com/2014/03/27/navy-seeks-next-generation-tomahawk/

Although the Navy plans to modernize its arsenal of roughly 4,000 Tomahawk missiles, the service is testing and developing a new weapon called the next-generation land attack weapon, Navy acquisition executive Sean Stackley told members of the House Armed Services Committee Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee

Meanwhile, production of the Tomahawk is slated to stop by fiscal year 2016, according to the Navy’s five year budget plan outlined in the 2015 proposal.

“We had been sustaining a 200 Tomahawk per year rate. In 2015 we’ll drop down to 100. In 2016 we will revisit the question of whether the time is right to stop production of Tomahawks,” Stackley added.

“What we have procured to date meets our inventory requirements for Tomahawks. What we have to get to is that next-generation weapon. That next-generation weapon could be an upgraded Tomahawk or could be another weapon,” he said.

“You do have plans for modernization in fiscal year 2020?” she asked.

Stackey and Vice Adm. Joseph Mulloy told Noem and the rest of the subcommittee that the Navy plans to both re-certify and modernize its inventory of Tomahawk missiles.

“We are continuing to modernize. There have been four steps the first of which is a brand new radio which allows combatant commanders to re-target. Tomahawks are amazing things but they were also built when I was a junior officer and we’ve modernized them,” said Mulloy, deputy chief of Naval Operations, Integration of Capabilities and Resources.

So, from an article last week....production doesn't stop until 2016....if we think it is appropriate. We have more than 4000 in our arsenal which we have plans to modernize. Our next generation missile might still be an upgraded Tomahawk. I can't find exactly numbers, but it looks like we haven't even fired anywhere near 4000 Tomahawks during the entire life of the missile.

But, this is giving the Russians the leeway to invade Ukraine. :errr

A little research is always a good thing.

Good find Juke. That is why I post stuff. I hope others will post other viewpoints and maybe things can be discussed in a reasonable manner.

Sounds like the Hellfire replacement is basically.....a Hellfire with a new guidance system that they've already been doing flight tests on.
