NEW RECORD OF SHAME ALERT!!!!!
*NOTE* Compiling a list of worst three game stretch second half differentials in NFL history. Will be editing this thread as I do more research.
2017 Cowboys 66 points (current) Worst in team history.
Neither the 1960 0-11-1 Cowboys or the 1989 1-15 Cowboys had a stretch even close to this. Safe to say it is an all-time franchise worst. Not even Wade's worst three game stretch was anywhere close to this.
Others samples of know historic bad teams.
1976 Tampa Bay Bucs (0-14): Weeks 9-11 point differential of 62 points; Weeks 12-14 point differential of 60 points
2008 Detroit Lions (0-16): No 3 game stretch even close to 60 points.
1981 Oakland Raiders got shut out 3 straight games (weeks 4-6). The 2nd half point differential was 40.
1981 Baltimore Colts (gave up 533 points, and arguably the worst defense of the Super Bowl era): weeks 9-11 - 40 point differential was their worst 3 game stretch.
1966 New York Giants (gave up 501 points): weeks 11-13 - 51 point differential was their worst.
1967 Expansion New Orleans Saints: weeks 1-3 - 49 point differential.
Guys, I've checked some of the worst teams, defenses, and 3 game stretches in NFL history, and the only other team to have a three game stretch of 2nd half point differential of 60 points or more is the 1976 expansion Buccaneers who are considered the worst team of the Super Bowl era.
Over the weekend I'll look into the stone age where expansion teams came and went, and stunk legendarily.
