I'm not sure I understand. Why would Dallas need to do a sign and trade deal for an unrestricted free agent?

Too many holes in that rumor to be true. These deals only happen in the NBA unless Aso ........ Nevermind

I'm not up on every detail of how these things work, but maybe the thinking is unload a player we don't want for a player they'll let walk. In turn the raiders get something we don't want but they can use.

I'd say there's less than a 1% chance this type of thing would happen. It makes no sense.

They wouldnt, it'd be stupid. No team would do that. He's totally free and they cant franchise him.

Its gotta be one of the dumbest things ever thrown out there as a "rumor"

Besides that, nobody can be traded for, or signed until there's a new CBA.

The only way I think this would be a possibility would be due to the shorted FA period we may face. Right now only Oakland can talk to Nnamdi so Dallas *might* be trying to get the inside track on him by offering the sign and trade deal.

I am not supporting this type of move or calling it good, just trying to figure out why someone might do this.

At some point we'll go after this guy. But the sign and trade thing is BS.

How can you trade someone once the deadline has passed anyways?

Doesn't add up.

But we will try and land this fish. No way Newman see's that 8 mill he is owed.

It still wouldnt matter, he cant be traded until a new CBA is agreed to.

It would matter in that we secured him before he was available to other teams. The trade cannot take place but is there a limit on a team's ability to agree to it before hand?

I doubt we'll go after him. Too much interest. Too much money to get it done.

I thought the CBA expired next month. Is it not business as usual until then? Can't trades take place after the season is officially over in two weeks?

March 3rd or 4th is the turn of the league calendar year.

Yes. I believe teams can sign and also trade players right now. But I might not be right about that.

Think it depends on the player. Seeing a lot of stuff like "Player X can't be traded until a new CBA is signed, Player Y is due a roster bonus after the CBA is signed..."

No, they cant. Right now you can only resign/release your own players, or sign street free agents. I believe you are also allowed to make practice squad moves.
