34 years old. Two back surgeries. Has a history of getting banged up. Living on pain meds. While playing well, most can tell he's just not the same.

With that said, we need to work on finding his eventual replacement.

So what is your plan for finding the next QB?

Any draft guys you like? What free agents are out there? If Seattle cut Matt Flynn, would you give him a look?

I don't consider Flynn to be anymore than a spot playing back up. I'd look in the draft. Cue doomsday Vaughn erection....

I think Tony will be alot better off after a good long offseason of rest, rehab and rejuvenation. He's got several good years left.

He's sustained numerous rib and back injuries.

One or two years left.
Best rehab and medical care money can buy.

3-4 years.

But yeah, we need to start looking at drafting a successor. This coming draft ain't the one to be looking at however.

Dr Jones says 4-5 more great years for Romo

I see no reason to doubt him, his track record speaks for itself.

Hasn't Dooms been saying Tony's back will never be the same and he's one hit from retirement?
Tony himself said it will never be the same, and it won't. And yes all this season he is a ticking time bomb where just that one right hit puts him out.

BUT, after a offseason to heal and rehab more, he'll be past that danger pretty much.

I want someone like Ryan Mallett or Jake Locker next year to come in and beat out Weeden. Both have some physical tools and I think you could land one of them at a reasonable rate.TJ Yates also works. If the Redskins are truly done with him, I could see Jerry making a run at RG3 if he were released. Free agency is before the draft so if we don't bring someone in, I would understand them drafting someone because I think they know Romo's time is ending soon. No thanks to Jameis Winston. No chance at Marcus Mariotta. I like Brett Hundley, especially if he doesn't have to play right away. If Connor Cook changes his mind, he'll go way before our pick. Want no part of Dak Prescott or Bryce Petty. I like Shane Carden a lot but he can be reckless.

Jake Locker is someone I'd like to bring in. Maybe a change of scenery would do him some good.

How can you want Locker? He looks absolutely horrific. Look at those stiffs starting ahead of him at Tennessee.

I'm a sucker for giving failed blue chippers a second chance.

Also I'll admit to never really paying any attention to his career. So there's that too. :awkward

I was more aiming that at cmd trying to catch him in more of his Pac-12 love. LOL

I do think he's been awful, though. He was a great athlete they hoped they could develop into a QB, but it never happened.

I don't see that much out of Hundley, either. I admit I haven't seen him much, but still, when I did I thought, "This is the guy everyone has been talking up so much?"

I'm not sure we spend much of a pick on a QB anyway. If anything Jerry will use this year as a reason to go all-in for the present like he loves to do.

I think Romo could call it quits after this season. He is a family guy. Has a beautiful wife, kids, money...everything he needs. His wife might try to pressure him to stop playing. I watched some old highlight videos of Romo last night, the guy has taken a lifetime of hard hits. Maybe he plays one more season since he has a great O-line in front of him and all the weapons he needs. Who knows?

BTW, Winston could drop in the draft. I think he is a basket case, but so is Bryant.

I agree. I think Locker needs to back up a QB like Romo or Brees and learn for a couple years. I think he'd come out of that a completely different QB.
