Michael Lombardi of NFL Network reports on the network's Path to the Draft show that "I've had two teams tell me the knee is very bad," said Lombardi. "He won't be on their boards. They are teams that need running backs."

Ingram had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee last August and missed the first two games of Alabama's season.

He didnt look as good last yr as the previous yr, but every team probably has medical people all over his knee. I doubt that its bad enough to really remove the guy from your board altogether.

I know I'd be pretty excited if he fell in our lap at 40, assuming his knee does check ok.

Report: Bad knee eliminates Mark Ingram from two draft boards

Posted by Evan Silva on April 13, 2011, 8:01 PM EDT

Alabama running back Mark Ingram underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on August 31 of last year, just prior to the start of the college season. He missed only two games, returning on September 18 to thump the Duke Blue Devils for 151 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.

Ingram would go on to average 5.54 yards per carry on the season, down from his Heisman-winning 6.12 mark as a sophomore, but still plenty admirable considering the stiff competition in the Southeastern Conference.

But there have been rumors that the long-term stability of Ingram’s knee is tenuous. And NFL Network’s Mike Lombardi reported something that may substantiate that speculation on Wednesday evening’s Path to the Draft.

“I’ve had two teams tell me the knee is very bad,” said Lombardi. “He won’t be on their boards. These are teams that need running backs.”

NFL Network’s Mike Mayock didn’t go as far as Lombardi, but did acknowledge Ingram is in danger of falling out of round one, where he’s so often projected.

“Even fully healthy, I have concerns about whether he’s a first-round pick,” said Mayock of Ingram. “I’m not so sure he’s going there.”

As usual, we’d caution to approach this information while keeping in mind the time of year. Misinformation is king. But this isn’t the first time Lombardi has spoken of potential long-range knee issues for Ingram.

“I think it could cause him to slip (in the draft),” he said on March 31. Lombardi suggested that Ingram may have degenerative arthritis, a condition that has been linked to Da’Quan Bowers and will likely cause the Clemson defensive end to fall on draft weekend, as well.

That's interesting because Miami might look for a RB in the 2nd or 3rd rounds now.

What's their next biggest need, QB or OG? It could be Locker or Pouncey at 15 now.

This is why I hate to do draft mock contest so early.

Sign DeAngelo Williams. Draft Pouncey. Henne just got some protection. Maybe even draft a 2nd round QB to push him.

This might just push Ingram back to us.

I can't see a team taking a RB with knee problems in the first... assuming its as bad as they say.

I was thinking the same thing if they took Pouncey at 15 they could get maybe Ponder or Dalton in the second.

Then again who really knows how these first round QBs fair. One or two may slide to Miami in the first. :confused

I'd take Leshoure or Veeren over Ingram just because of the knee problems.

Not in the first though.

Now that I think of it... I could see the Pats taking Ingram with one of their early picks. Maybe the one at the top of the 2nd if he fell that far.

It's sounds reasonable. The Pats can afford to put Ingram on the shelf for a year if they had too.

No way in hell would I take any rb in this draft over Ingram, if both were available.

This knee injury is nothing.

3 years from now, Ingram is going to be the lead back for some team, and the fans of that team are going to be ecstatic that he slid due to all the pre-draft paranoia.

Okay, that's your opinion. Mine is his knee is f' ked and he's going to be another Ki-Jana Carter if these reports are true.

He's at least out for this season and who knows if and when he will recover.

We're both on record here so if your right then you deserve bragging rights.

Where do you get that he's out for this season?

I don't know that yet, just going off the information that it's bad is all. Then again this could be Misinformation.

I'm wrong for saying he's out for the season, I just feel these two teams really know something we don't.

If a team like New England drafts him, they have Woodhead so if the knee is bad why force him out on the field.

Just using New England as an example.

Don't worry. You're gonna love our pick at 40.

Where did you get this?

Also, Kijana Carter didnt come into the league with any health questions. He blew out his knee in the first preseason game of his career, and was never the same after that.

Yeah, just like I loved picks like Kavika Pittman, Clay Shiver, Shane Hannah, Kendall Watkins, Dwayne Goodrich, Quincy Carter, Bobby Carpenter, Jacob Rogers, Al Johnson etc etc

If its a good pick that makes sense I'll like it. If its some out of left field head scratcher, I wont.
