Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott “could face a lengthy suspension” as the result of an NFL investigation into allegations of domestic violence, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports.

Elliott’s former girlfriend filed a police report in July alleging that Elliott assaulted her in a car. Elliott denied the allegations and authorities declined to bring charges.

The NFL is still investigating the case, however, and Elliott was recently interviewed by league investigators, USA Today reported. La Canfora reports that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones approached NFL domestic violence advisor Lisa Friel at a league meeting but “Friel did not respond to Jones during the interaction.”

Elliott, the No. 4 pick in this year’s draft, is averaging an NFL-best 117.2 yards per game this season and entered Week 8 leading the league in rushing yards

So the police find that Elliott didn't do anything wrong but the NFL is considering suspending him?

Not only that, but there is evidence that the girl lied. Text messages bearing this out. And didn't this occur BEFORE Zeke was even drafted?

If Zeke is suspended, were I him, I would sue the NFL and Goodell personally.

I get the NFL is trying to get ahead of the domestic assault, but this is ridiculous.

What kind of proof is there that he did or did not do anything? Anybody know?

There were multiple witnesses that said there was no physical interaction between the two of them. They also said that the injuries that she had on her were from a bar fight.

burden of proof is much lower in the NFL. they're like a separate fiefdom within the USA.

One of the witnesses was another female that was in the car with them when she said she was assaulted. I also read that the bruises on her arms were consistent with her slamming her arms down on the edges of a table and not being grabbed or restrained.

I'm getting real fucking sick of the NFL creating their own legal system, if people have a problem, it shouldn't be with the NFL but our legal system and thats where changes should be made.

Reminds me of this story my wife is following about Russell Crow. Dude has a get together of friends he has done movies with. Some rapper he's made a few movies with brings this girl with him. Who then gets drunk starts talking about all the white people, insults Crow for being an old white dude, threatens another guest, the list goes on. Crow kicks her out the house and suddenly, even with every party guest, including her date saying it didn't happen the girl is suing and gone to the police saying he called her a n word slapped her around etc. It reminded me so much of the Greg Hardy case. All the witnesses, he called 911 etc and he gets off, but the photos of bruises that she could have done or had done to her get sympathy from the public and that guy is toast.

I get it DV is a huge problem and needs to be stamped out, but there needs to be big consequences for lying your ass off. Right now DV is in the same boat as calling someone a rapist or pedofile. As soon as the words are spoken the guy is guilty 100%. Won't matter if there is proof on video that guy is done.
