Quick Hits: LaRon Landry still limited

By Mike Jones

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said safety LaRon Landry was limited in practice Wednesday and will continue to be evaluated as the week progresses. Shanahan said part of the evaluation is “finding out if he is in football shape.”

Shanahan said cornerback Josh Wilson has yet to return to full action because of a back injury, and rookie safety DeJon Gomes, bothered by a hamstring injury, didn’t practice.

Shanahan said he hasn’t talked much about the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry, but has stressed the importance of winning a game against a divisional opponent.

The league sent out a memo warning teams about faking injuries to slow an opponent’s momentum. Shanahan, when asked if he had ever instructed his team to do so, smiled and said “I can’t say that I have. And I can’t say that I haven’t.”

Shanahan is lying as usual.

Nagy, Jenkins, Witten & Newman dressed out. Felix Jones is at practice but in a baseball cap. Bryant, Dockery Austin & Costa aren't here.

#Dallas #Cowboys OL Derrick Dockery (knee) isn't practicing today. However, LG Bill Nagy (neck) is practicing after being inactive Sunday.

If we are without Austin AND Dez we may be in some trouble. Seeing as how we can't run the football whatsoever.

Quick Hits: LaRon Landry increasing his workload in practice
By Mike Jones
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said safety LaRon Landry still was limited but did increase his workload in Thursday’s practice. Shanahan said Landry will likely test his hamstring full-speed by the end of the week.

Landry was upbeat following practice, telling reporters he took a step forward today and saying “you’ll see me Monday” against the Cowboys. But Shanahan said it’s still to early to know if Landry will play.

Shanahan said cornerback Josh Wilson (back) and safety DeJon Gomes (hamstring) were limited, as was fullback Mike Sellers, who twisted an ankle in practice and had it wrapped after it swelled up.

Shanahan said he’s not worried about Rex Grossman, who has gotten several passes batted down at the line. He attributed that to tall defensive linemen doing a good job of getting their hands up.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said he thought the Redskins used Tim Hightower a little too much during the first game, and was glad to see that Roy Helu can be counted on so Hightower isn’t overused.

Shanahan said Cowboys’ linebacker DeMarcus Ware is probably the best pass-rusher the Redskins will face all season.

Shanahan said Fred Davis seeing more playing time than Chris Cooley is a result of Cooley still working his way back from missing the preseason. He said Cooley “is extremely important” to the team.

LaRon Landry is expected to be a "game time decision" for MNF vs. Dallas. He was limited in Friday's practice, per Mike Shanahan. Also limited in Friday #Redskins practice was CB Josh Wilson (back injury).
