I'm all for a name change if

1) it brings embarassment on that horrible franchise
2) if people are truly effected and offended by it. Too many "names" out there to have one that a legally protected group of people has said over and over they take offense to it

does the name bother me? no, but who the hell am I to speak for a whole race of people who didn't exactly got a fair deal from this country. If we want people to leave the past in the past, then moving on from this sports team name should be no problem. The thing is, in 3 or 4 years after the name change, no one will care. Their fans will all have new jerseys and their critics will all have new ways to make fun of their new name.

They've got their tax free casinos and public lands. They're just crying like babies to get attention.

They need to grow up and concentrate on fixing real problems they face.

When anyone who we either don't care about or disagree with, raises a concern, they are bitching or complaining.

When it's personal or something we believe in, we call that standing up for yourself.

It's a simple concept and there are laws in this country about discrimination or offending racial classes. Change the name and be done with it. So many bigger issues in this country that we can can be spending our time and effort on.

Do any of you really care what that team calls themselves?

It's the principle. They're worried about the name of a football team?

Grow. The. Fuck. Up.

Grow. The. Fuck. Up.

It's ironic really. Not personally against you, but the people who are against the name change are acting much more immature than the organized movement who's trying to change it.

If a business near by used a promotion that specifically offended you would you just accept it?

If there was a Washington Whiteskins I really wouldn't care.

Then again if I sat around drinking all day I guess I would find things to get offended about too.

Of course the name is offensive, but this entire thing is a farce. When they change the name, reservations will still be ravaged by poverty, meth epidemics and crime, and the education rate will stay low because all of these yuppy self righteous pricks will move have moved on to their next project.

Imagine if they used all of those resource to do something that actually helps.

That's really what they need to focus on, and not the name of a football team.

No wonder they have so many problems.

It's 2013. How much longer are they going to continue to live here rent free?

You can't just assume that the same word applied to your race would have the same connotations for you.

What about Washington Jon88 is a Fucktards? You think if they used your picture and altered it to be derogatory, you wouldn't care?

Is there any name they could call themselves that would offend you?

The name doesn't mean the same.
Of course it doesn't mean the same thing... most offensive terms do not mean the same thing as other offensive terms.

That's why I asked if there was anything that they could name the team that would offend you.

You can't just say, "hurrr durr I wouldn't be offended if someone called me a white skin" or a wiggar, or whatever.

How about Peplaw was a major douche before and he's increased it 10x since someone gave him mod duties.

Yes, I would be offended. And I would hope they would change it.

There was that so hard?

And I haven't changed a thing since they made my name red.
