Redskins agreed to terms with WR Pierre Garcon, formerly of the Colts.
They're also expected to sign Josh Morgan shortly, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Garcon, who turns 26 before the season, chose Washington over St. Louis. The fit is solid in D.C. in that offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan knows Garcon's strengths and weaknesses from their time competing in the AFC South. Garcon figures to be Robert Griffin's top receiver with the Redskins. His run-after-catch skills suit Shanahans' West Coast offense, though the club will be disappointed if it expects Garcon to emerge as a double team-drawing No. 1 wide receiver. He's ideally suited as a complementary-type, No. 2.

That's great, but there are other ways to have a succesful passing game other than having a "number 1 WR", which is a concept that is becoming more and more outdated. More teams are spreading the field with a diverse WR corps that simply create mismatches across the field, rather than having the classic number one wide receiver that is not only rare but very expensive.

If the Redskins did pay Jackson what he wants, it's "typical Redskins". When they sign someone else, Jackson is better.

I like what the skins are doing. I'll hate it if they land Eddie Royal. I've been a big fan of Royal. Not sure why he never produced after his rookie year, but maybe he'll get back to what he was in a new uniform.

It's overkill. I see what they're trying to emulate but the teams that have been the most succesful in building this type of WR corps have done it almost exclusively through the draft. I would have been ok with just Garcon and Morgan, or even just Garcon. Both owners are happy to spend money but they're misguided in how they do it. Paying free agents that come in and do nothing (Snyder) is just as bad if not worse than continuing to pay your own players that stopped being productive (Jones)
