If true this is awesome, and who wouldn't want to come coach here for America's Team I mean if you had a choice to coach here or Arizona what would you do?

Maybe he was told he would be a DC here if and when Rob is promoted to head coach.

Honestly?

I would do everything I can do to make sure I never work for Jerry Jones.

If I have another option, and a promotion at that, I take it.

I hate Jerry as much as anyone but compared to the Bidwell family he might actually be the better option.

I mean, Campo is one of Jerry's guys. He's worked for him from the beginning. Do you think he would keep him in limbo like this and then fire him in the middle of February?

I kind of doubt it. I think if that was what their intentions were that they'd have let him go immediately so he can better seek another opportunity.

But, but, but JG has the final say on the hiring of his staff, right? :awkward

I think so.

But I think if Garrett wanted him gone, he'd have said so right after the season. And I think Jerry would have seen to it that it was done quick out of respect for his buddy.

I have no proof to this, it's just what I'm guessing.

Right, and I also believe JG has a part in it as well as far as keeping Campo.

Why keep Campo? who the f knows.

Cowboys trying to hire Ray Horton

Not only are the Cowboys about to hire a defensive line coach, Brian Baker, but it appears the team is also trying to get Steelers secondary coach Ray Horton.

According to a source, the team would like to hire Horton, who spent four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers as the defensive backs coach.

Horton, however, is a candidate to become the defensive coordinator with Arizona and according to the Arizona Republic could be hired by the Cardinals as soon as Wednesday.

Before the Cowboys hired Rob Ryan as their defensive coordinator, Horton's name surfaced as a possible candidate. Horton said last week he did not speak with the Cowboys but was hopeful he would get a chance to become a defensive coordinator, something he's never done before.

Dave Campo is currently the Cowboys secondary coach but it's undetermined what role he would have with the organization if Horton is hired.

Jerry Jones said last month that all the coaches that attended the Senior Bowl practices in Mobile, Ala., would be retained, and that included Campo.

I just don't have the hate for Campo. I lay virtually all the blame for the lousy defense on one Wade Phillips.

Wait a minute. So at least the Cowboys are not set on Campo then? HELL YEAH!

He'll probably be in charge of cleaning Jerry's office, shit I'm not even sure if he can handle that.

Sheik needs a roofer who doesn't use staples, he might be a good fit.

Cowboys pursue Pittsburgh assistant Ray Horton

By David Moore / Reporter
dmoore@dallasnews.com

The Cowboys welcomed one defensive assistant into the fold Tuesday and is wooing another.

As Gerry Fraley mentioned in an earlier post, the club will add Brian Baker as defensive line coach and is working hard to persuade Ray Horton to be a part of their staff. If the Cowboys are successful in that pursuit, it will have implications for long-time assistant Dave Campo.

Horton is the secondary coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. His name surfaced for the defensive coordinator position before the Cowboys hired Rob Ryan.

Horton, who once played for the Cowboys, is scheduled to interview with Arizona Wednesday for their vacancy at defensive coordinator. The Cowboys obviously can't offer that position, but they can make Horton an assistant head coach over the secondary.

The Cowboys will likely re-assign Campo if that title is enough to lure Horton back to Dallas. Campo has told associates that he's uncertain what role, if any, he'll have on Ryan's defensive staff.

The club did not issue a release on Baker, but he has informed officials at the University of North Carolina that he is leaving for the Cowboys.

Baker has spent 15 years in the NFL as an assistant. He was with Carolina the last two seasons and spent the previous three seasons in St. Louis. He is a high-energy assistant who has helped develop Leonard Little, La'Roi Glover and Kevin Williams.
