Orrrrrrr some fans might have noticed that our interior run defense has been subpar, especially on short-yardage situations. Getting a larger Nose Tackle, with ability, might help with that.

Also, another problem with our D has been a lack of pass rush from our DE's. Ratliff could improve that. I also like the idea of lining up Ratliff at different spots to allow him to find mismatches and be the disruptive force we all know he can be.

Ratliff was supposed to do that this year.

Obvious passing downs he should play NT. We've been hoping for this for about 2 years now. Dontario Poe in the 2nd looks very appealing now. He's not your typical 330 pound blob.

Campbell, Poe, Ratliff, Spears, Lissemore, Brent and Hatcher would make a very deep and strong Dline.

If we don't get other pressure players teams will still just shift their doubles to Ware and Ratliff when they can, doesn't matter where we put them.

Broaddus suggest a target with all the cap room. We have more than enough to sign Finnegan, Nicks and Campbell. The dead money of Roy and Igor should be dwindling down the next few years. I'm positive that Stephen could work the cap numbers to sign all three players.

Anyone know how much we can save by cutting Newman? That could be used towards Courtland...

Cardinals are pretty cheap. They let Dansby go after they went to the SB and he was their best player on D.

That's still pretty young for a LB. All this is moot because you will end up being right since he's only 25 and you can build around him.

He's been the most disruptive player on our defense apart from Ware?

Ratliff is a good soldier but he's consistently said he really likes the nose and the opportunities it affords him to use his quickness to get really quick penetration. I guess this is good if we're trying to spare him some double teams, but I think it would be better to just get better DEs around him.

..except the way Ryan uses the NT, he doesn't get any quick penetration. We need a guy like Rubin or Rogers that Ryan had in Cleveland. Big, strong guys who can push the pocket. Im glad they are finally considering this.

Sorry, but there's a better player in the 2nd round for us than Poe.

well its officially the offseason.

all we need is a romo golf story which are usually right behind a ratliff to de story.

Well we fans have been talking about it, and now the FO is talking about it, so I think there is a bit more substance to the report.

probably not, We always talk about it.

The only thing that could make it a legit option is if we go get a good two gap nose tackle in the traditional sense to pair with josh brent. That would give us two big bodies in the middle to rotate and 3 athletic ends in hatcher, ratliff and lissemore.

there are a couple of big two gap traditional nose tackles available in free agency. Solai and franklin.

I would think with ryans system it makes more sense to give ratliff a break from this. In wades system with ratliff lining up off the shoulder of the center and shooting a gap ratliff was fine. With this two gap over the center look it is really difficult, he showed what a good player he is this year and probably made the pro bowl because other teams respect what he has been doing so much.

Maybe you missed the part where the FO was talking about it..

Ryan had big, traditional type NT's in Cleveland, so it would make sense we would be in the market for one right now.
