Having a discussion with some buddies about Wilson....

I generally think he's not considered a top 10 QB by most people. But if he wins a second Super Bowl in his 3 seasons, then he's going to be banging on the door.

Some guys already think he's top 10, and some say he's top 5. I think top 5 is crazy.

He didn't have a great game today, and you have to say his defense has been so good it's easier to rack up those wins. But at the same time, he hasn't ever really had any WRs or TEs who take games over.

I bet his agent was cringing every time Wilson said to Terry Bradshaw on national TV, "It's a honor to be playing here" with his contract up.

Reckon the owner might bring that up when negotiation time comes?

But, to your point I've always said Wilson is the ultimate Bus Driver, by Bill Parcells definition. Today though he had to be the mechanic too, get his hands dirty changing tires and putting back wheels that fell off.

Each time Green Bay kicked a field goal in this game, I said "you're going to regret that four points you're leaving on the field" and especially those two instances where they had the ball inside the 1.

16 points they left on the field. I think it might have been Steve Young who said "every time you kick a field goal in these (championship) games, you're that much closer to losing."

Or some such.

A top 5 QB doesn't kill his team with multiple turnovers and 0.0 rating in a championship game. I'd put him in the top 12 for now but a lot of that is likely because he has no talent in the passing game. He's great with the read option and he definitely made some huge plays down the stretch tonight, but even two super bowls shouldn't vault him up too far. Eli Manning has two afterall...

I like him a lot, he may not be a prototypical QB but he's a hard worker and a winner

Geez, he has to be top 10, probably top 5-6.

When you start listing them out, there aren't that many really good QBs in the league.

Definitely top 10 IMO. Without putting much thought into it I'd say top 5 is Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Romo. Then you have your group of Big Ben, Flacco, Rivers, Wilson, Ryan and Luck. Who all seem to fluctuate... (I'm probably missing a pretty obvious one in there too.)

He had a really bad game against GB but it doesn't happen often with him and let's be fair even the great ones have bad games.

And while he might not be as good as the other QBs when it comes to picking apart a defense from the pocket he makes up for it with his feet and scrambling ability. Over 800 yards rushing this season.

You hit the ones I think are top 10...

Rodgers
Brady
Manning
Brees
Romo
Rivers
Roethlisberger
Luck
Flacco
Ryan

Wilson is next IMO. I think a lot of people have him rated similarly to Stafford, Kaepernick (I think he's awful as a passer), and Newton.

I really don't think he's that high. I could probably be talked into slotting him anywhere from 8 to 12.

Wilson flat out sucked for 3 quarters. If he starts that way against NE, they'll jump to a 21 point lead real quick.

Granted, he's a different QB than a Ryan or someone, and he does have to be used correctly, but I give him more credit than most I guess. I know their D is great but I put him way higher than someone like a Trent Dilfer who just doesn't screw it up. Wilson makes a lot of plays, including those with his legs.
