I think it matters more to him to win with his ignorant decision making than to win with someone with a proven track record calling all the shots. otherwise he'd have fired himself not long after Jimmy left.

So he cares about winning, but doesn't care about winning if it isn't him at the top. So he can look at everyone and say "see, I am a really good GM/football man!!!!!"

I said a month ago Gregory failed a drug test, because my boy works for the Cowboys, and Fuzzy "I'm a little bitch" Lumpkins ran over to the zone and called me a troll, then the 'Zone's know-it-all, Idgit apparently said I had no source and just got lucky. Hostile said his "sources" said I was lying.

The day the news officially broke, everyone over there lost their shit. Idgit still thinks I just made it up and got lucky. Hostile actually offered an apology, but that's probably because he can just make shit up, and people will believe him.
