Try to keep it in your pants CMD

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jalen Ramsey will certainly make the Jacksonville Jaguars' pass defense better, but it's apparent he's also going to help improve the run defense, too. Ramsey made three tackles in only two series -- including one for a 6-yard loss -- during the Jaguars' 27-21 loss to Tampa Bay at EverBank Field on Saturday night.

Ramsey's size (6-foot-1, 211 pounds) has always been mentioned as a plus in terms of coverage, especially when it comes to handling bigger receivers and tight ends. It served him well in run support at Florida State, too, and when Ramsey is paired with Prince Amukamara (6-0, 202 pounds) it gives the Jaguars two physical corners that will be a big help against the run.

Ramsey did a solid job in coverage, too. He lined up against Bucs receiver Mike Evans (6-5, 231 pounds) several times on the Bucs' second possession and was physical with the bigger Evans. Both passes Jameis Winston threw toward Evans were incomplete with Ramsey in coverage.

"I think I did pretty well," Ramsey said. "I always have to watch the film and see how I truly did. Just coming off the game, I think I did really well."

How much better about this defense would we all feel had we taken Ramsey and Jack with our first two picks.

Probably could've still gotten Smith in the third.

I don't think Ramsey would have done a thing to help the pass rush though.

And I firmly believe Elliott will be a huge help for the offense and defense. He will score touchowns and along with Morris eat up clock. Ramsey wouldn't have done anything for the offense IMO.

The Jack thing is a different story though. Obviously he could have helped.

Even if we thought we had to have a young RB, Derrick Henry looked darn good vs Carolina, from what I saw.

I agree with DBastard.

I wanted Ramsey in the first and Henry in the second, it will be interesting to see how things play out over the next few years

Yeah, I'd have preferred that too. I won't complain about Zeke, though. I wanted a top RB prospect and they got one, so I'll count it as a win.

Disappointed how the brain-trust used the 2nd round pick, though.

Can either of them rush the passer from the DE position? Having Jack would have definitely helped but I still say that with no pass rush (and injury history) Ramsey would just be another Mo. He'll be a much better player in Jacksonville than he would have been in Dallas because they actually have a good DL.

I think its been proven having a better pass rush is far more important than having some good DB's

Seems that teams that have a dominant pass rush typically have CB's that were mid/late round picks become stars. Like Josh Norman did in Carolina.

They do? Like who?

Bennet, Fowler, Jackson to name 3. Odrick is also good at DT. Then factor in their LB's.

Fowler hasn't played a single down of real NFL football yet as fyi.

Didn't Odrick wash out somewhere else? Malik Jackson was huge for Denver last yr. Michael Bennett had 10 tackles and a half a sack last yr for Jax

They did draft Sheldon Day this yr (who some of us here liked for our Boys) but I haven't heard how he has been doing.
