I'm not sure Jerry has to die. I really think if this team failed spectacularly again, he might actually give up on the Great Ginger Experiment. The one thing he loves more than family portrait boy is his money, and if he saw ratings dropping and his palace less full, he might do something.
Problem is, it would have to be fail on a pretty big scale. If we scrape along and stay in the hunt -- even if only because of this terrible division and not because we're actually a good team -- that will be enough to keep fan interest and his own optimism up and nothing will change.
That's pretty much my worst nightmare, but I think there's a real chance of that happening.
It's not a magical theory. Pay attention to the league.
Colts went 11-5 last year with a new coach, after 2-14 the year before.
Falcons went 11-5 in Mike Smiths first year, after 4-12 the previous season.
9'ers went 13-3 in Harbaughs first year after a 6-10 season
Just tossing a name out there. Assuming he gets fired-what about Tom Coughlin?
Maybe we should buy a billboard across from the Death Star...
One of the best franchise QB prospects in years probably helped the Colts a tad bit more than a new coach
Falcons went 4-12 with a new coach before hiring a new coach
9ers went from 7-9 to a whopping 8-8 in Singletary's first season.
It's a little more complicated than just hiring a new coach. Parcells built a winner here and changed the culture momentarily.

That sounds like what we already do now!
First year turnarounds happen fairly regularly.
