Campo over. 3/5 of preseason done. Make your calls.

Mine:

QB- Romo, Orton (2*) Don't know how much more time Tanney will get but if he gets all or the vast majority of the final preseason game it could be a hint that they will keep 3. After two preseason games I definitely didn't expect they would, but he showed some skill vs Arizona and if he plays well again, he might not clear waivers to the PS

RB- Murray, Dunbar, Tanner & Randle. (4) Dunbar's injury probably means all 4 make it. Was probably going to happen anyway unless some RB desperate team made an offer for Tanner or Randle.

WR- Bryant, Austin, Williams, Harris, Beasley (5). Armstrong will definitely make them think about this, and ultimately if they kept him as a 6th I probably wouldn't be shocked.

TE- Witten, Hanna, Escobar, Rosario (4). Wouldn't surprise me if Rosario were cut for someone else, maybe a vet from final cutdowns who is a proven blocker.

OL- T Smith, Leary, Frederick, Bernadeau, Free, Parnell, Costa, Arkin (8+2 wildcards). I think Livings will be released unless Leary absolutely wont be ready for season opener. Kowalski might make a late push to be one of the 10, but I suspect there will be 1 or 2 moves (free agent or trade) here.

DL- Ware, Spencer, Hatcher, Ratliff, Bass, Wilbur, Selvie, Hayden, Lissemore (9). Lissemore might not be a lock anymore, and he could be trade bait to some 3-4 team. Selvie and Wilbur are both better from the RDE spot, so keeping both might not be a lock and someone who can play LDE and help vs the run might be brought in.

LB- Carter, Lee, Durant, Holloman, Sims, Magee (6). Only question is who starts at SOLB. Wonder how long they can keep Holloman on the bench.

CB- Claiborne, Carr, Scandrick, Webb, Moore (5). Not much to think about here. Webb might not play much this year but he was just drafted and does have physical talent, as well as a track record in college of making a lot of plays.

SS/FS- Church, Allen, Wilcox, Matt Johnson, McCray (5). Johnson has to figure out how to get (and stay healthy). McCray is probably too good on ST to let go. If Johnson doesn't get healthy I wouldn't be surprised if they find another veteran backup S

ST- Bailey, Jones, LaDouceur (3) . Not 100% convinced Jones will be opening day punter. he's been ok, but not spectacular.

If they keep 3 QB's or 6 WR's, somebody else has to go. I think there are probably 47-48 or so positions absolutely locked up, with 5 or maybe 6 still up in the aie.

It takes some work to put one of these lists together. Nice job.

A different take on the OL -- If Arkin is seen as a viable player or if the Cowboys sign Waters or another guard, Costa doesn't make the team. Bernadeau would be the team's backup Center.

Yep, or maybe Kowalski if he shows well the last two games. I'm guessing he's another guy who see a ton of PT the 2nd half this weekend and maybe all of the final game.

Bernadeau as backup C/swing G isn't a bad thought. Probably his best role.

I don't think Matt Johnson makes it.

It's like my old coach at BYU used to say: "Can't make the club from the tub."

I'd prefer to see him cut. I could see the team keeping him, though. You can only suit up so many players every week ... some aren't going to dress out. So if you have an injured guy with potential, maybe he's the one you keep but don't dress.

But yeah, I don't know that it is smart to do that two years in a row for the same player.

When I was on the coaching staff at Arizona, we believed that having players you can count on just as important as having players who had talent.

Matt Johnson might have potential. He might end up being a talented safety. But he's not a guy you'll ever be able to count on, physically. He's like the white Bob Sanders, only not as talented on account of his whiteness.

That's a great philosophy, Mid. Did you help coach any of the great players to come out of Arizona?

The list sounds right but there are usually a couple of surprise moves. On a side note, some of you guys are gay to be doing that homo shit.
