Just my opinions:
Team MVP- He started out kinda shakey this yr and had a couple bad moments vs the Jets and Lions, but Romo is definitely the teams MVP this year. Without him we probably end up with a top 5 pick
Offensive MVP- Romo probably deserves this too, but since I gave him the overall MVP I'll pick another guy here. Going with Laurent Robinson. Came in late, got cut once and had to play just about every WR position at one time or another due to injuries to Austin and Bryant. Earned alot of Romo's confidence and ended up with a really solid year. Ended up with 54 catches, 858 yds (almost 16.0 yds per catch) and 11 tds. Didnt drop many passes either. Off the top of my head I only recall 1 or 2.
Defensive MVP- Had Lee not gotten hurt, no telling what his year would have looked like. It was still great. But this team is nothing defensively with Demarcus Ware. If he'd have went down we'd have probably given up 30-40 pts a week. Not as many game changing plays (the strip sacks) as past years, but saw more double/triple teaming than probably any other defensive player in the league. Year in and year out puts up huge numbers despite other teams OL's being able to do whatever they want in terms of holding with almost no fear of ever being called for it. Refs show no hesitation giving Ware the phantom offsides call, but he almost never gets the holding calls no matter how obvious they are (see Trent Williams MNF)
Best rookie- This was a really good rookie class. Had Demarco Murray not gotten hurt we might have made the playoffs and his numbers probably would have warranted some consideration for rookie of the year (probably wouldnt have won, but would have gotten some votes). Dan Bailey was exceptional as a rookie kicker. But Tyron Smith was a borderline probowl calibar player almost from day one and should be a fixture in that game for years to come. Will move to LT next yr and with a year in our weight program and more technique refinement, could be a monster for years to come. I think the future is pretty bright for Bruce Carter, Kevin Kowalski and Punter Chris Jones as well. Dwayne Harris improved and was a late season boost to the return game.
Most surprising player (positive)- Probably Dan Bailey. They spent all training camp trying to find someone else, but in the end he was far superior to anything else and was close to a probowl performer as a rookie. Won or tied a number of close games with pressure kicks. Showed good range and had 24 touchbacks.
Most disappointing player- Probably a few prime candidates here. Doug Free had a really solid first year and a half as a starter, but he had some really poor games this year after getting a big contract. Newman was awful in December. Abe Elam was terrible in pass coverage all year, and probably made fewer plays than any other regular starting safety in the NFL. Certainly had the fewest passed defensed (ZERO) and got no ints. I'm going with Anthony Spencer though. After getting 3 sacks and being pretty active in the first 3 games, ended up with only 6 sacks and in a majority of games was invisible despite seeing only single blocking. Was moved around alot and still did next to nothing. It was a contract year too. His failure to take off as a pass rusher opp Ware really crippled the defense IMO, especially in terms of stopping teams on 3rd and long. Should be replaced for 2012 and I would only resign him if its a bargain basement deal.
Best game- Blowout win vs Buffalo. At the time Buffalo was starting to tail off a little, but they were still considered one of the leagues surprise good teams when we played them.
Worst game- Blowout loss at Philly. Team didnt even look competitive that night.
