Depending on who you believe, Jerruh supposedly wanted to fire McCarthy after last January's debacle at home vs San Fran.

Assuming another 1 and done (which seems highly likely IMO) do you think McCarthy is canned?

For the record, if the end result is promoting Moore or Quinn to HC at McCarthy's expense, I'd prefer we keep McCarthy.

I hope some team does us a huge favor and hires both our coordinators as head coaches somewhere else.

We just had 2 consecutive seasons with 12 wins. We haven’t done that since we won the Super Bowl. And we all know how long it’s been since that happened.

No other coach since JJ has been able to do that.

MM ain’t going nowhere unless we get completely embarrassed in the first round. It would have to be a worse loss than last years loss to the Niners.

If we lose a competitive game then MM remains our HC.

I can see Jerruh letting Sean Payton work somewhere else only one way - if we get to the Soup Bow.

Know what else we haven't done since that Soup Bowl?

Been to a conference championship game.

I think it's a 90% chance McCarthy is sacrificed if we lose in round one again.

Supposedly Payton has told people his two preferred destinations are Cowboys & Chargers.

Chargers just made the playoffs for first time under their new coach so he might be safe. I don't think McCarthy is safe without at least one postseason win, he might need two.

Its all moot since whatever happens is just moving deck chairs around on the Titanic

MM's 23 wins in last 2 seasons is the best record since 1994/95. He took them to back to back playoff berths now for the first time since 2006/07 too. Any owner who fires their HC with those stats to hire another HC with a carbon copy resume (both won SB's w/HOF QB's) is nuts.

But then again, we're talking about Jerry. My bad!

If Payton were a free agent and no draft compensation was owed to the Saints, I could see him axing Fat Mike, but the timing is all wrong.

I'd forgotten this finer point. What's the actual compensation?

MM has got us to the playoffs in back to back seasons with 12 wins (or more) in each of those seasons.

Jeruh put up with a decade of 8-8 mediocre middle of the road go nowhere bullshit from JG.

MM ain’t going nowhere without an epic complete and utter meltdown in the postseason.

Jerruh feels his mortality ominously approaching. He's GOT to have that one Lombardi trophy "his way" before passing on. This makes him apt to do just about anything including trading away draft picks.

Saints want a #1 pick.
Ahh, chit. Jerruh would be in at that. He's always regretted letting Payton leave only to see him win a Soup Bow. It's a big part of the reason he wouldn't move on from Ginger - he was thinking Ginger = Payton. His big fear was Ginger would leave and win a Soup Bow wherever he landed.

I regret to inform you that he thinks Moore has Payton-like potential.

That could be, it will definitely cost something in terms of picks to get him.

And supposedly there's nobody the Benson family hates more in the league than the Jones. Have no idea of that's true or not but have read it a few times over the years. Doubtful they'll let him come here without decent compensation.
