Sounds like we will have more cap flexibility this yr than anytime recently. Hopefully they spend wisely and be at least semi aggressvie to get a couple of really quality starters.

If it were me I'd try to use free agent dollars on defense and then maybe focus the early draft on offensive skills guys.

Not a bad idea. Sign DE Olivier Vernon from Miami, MLB Kelvin Sheppard from Miami, and CB Jeniris Jenkins from the Rams.

Then in the draft take Wentz or Goff in round 1, DT Austin Johnson from Penn St. In the 2nd and then RB Kenneth Dixon from La Tech.

That is a lackluster off-season. Jenkins is feast or famine at CB. I'm not sure Vernon is better than Lawrence and Gregory, at least not what they will develop to be. Sheppard is decent but I'd rather risk another contract on Rolando McClain. As far as the draft, I like Wentz but just don't feel he's a worthy of a Top 5 pick ( I realize I'm suddenly in the minority there). I really like Austin Johnson as a 1Tech so would be thrilled with that pick. Dixon is a dime a dozen back and feels like a reach in the 3rd.

If I knew our coaching staff were capable of controlling their pet pit bull I would be fine with resigning him. Our spineless coach who is incapable of dealing with a polarizing yet dominant player like Hardy were unwilling and unable to keep him under control and get him moving in the right direction.

I can see him going to another team with a HC that has a set of balls to put him in his place which is exactly what he needs. Then we will all watch next season as he blows up and becomes a sacking machine. It will just be for another team.

I believe that if our coach had the balls to put him in his place that Hardy could have had an outstanding career in Dallas. But because our HC has no balls and refuses to be a disciplinarian we will have to sit back and watch Hardy destroy QB's for another team instead of ours

Why do some have a near pathological hatred for him? I don't get it.

I don't hate him, I just don't have any attachment to him.

The guy was just like this at Carolina, but nobody wanted to listen. Instead many were on the, "He's actually a great leader!" train that Jerry and Garrett were driving.

If he produced a ton, maybe you put up with him. He didn't. So move along just like with any other player.

polarizing yet dominant
But, he wasn't. Remember how he was going to get double teamed and chipped all the time, opening the door for others to make plays? Outside of the NE game, it never developed. And outside of the NE game, Hardy really didn't do jack shit. That's not "dominant."

This is true, he should have been able to perform like he did in the NE game week in and week out. He did not which was disappointing

He's proven he's still capable of that type of play. But the reports of him not being in shape are disturbing. He should have come into the season in shape and the coaches should have made sure he stayed in shape all season. Neither apparently happened

I don't see him letting that happen again this year no matter what team he ends up playing for. I also don't think another coaching staff would let that happen.

If we saw he wasn't in shape at any point in the season then our coaches should have taken the steps to correct that. They apparently did not

and the reliability of these reports? You gomers need to look a little harder instead of swallowing stuff whole.

Without Hardy they are going to need another DE. There's not one worth drafting at 4 (Bosa has bust written all over him). Vernon is still young and would add depth and a pas rush to the line. As far as talent I would agree that he's right
In line with Lawrence and Gregory. Having 3 of those guys in a rotation is better than only having two.

As for McClain, it's time to cut bait with that guy. He's not even sure if he still wants to play. There were reports coming out before the end of the season that he was contemplating retiring again. At this point he's not playing for passion, he's simply playing for a check. I personally don't want guys like that on the team. That is a failures mentality and they do not need that on this team.

I agree that Hardy needs to go. I think though that after being back in football and playing for a whole year he's going to get that dominance back this coming year. Taking a whole year off can take a lot out of you. It takes players at least a whole year to get back to where they were. I personally do not want him on the team anymore though.

I don't blame the team for giving it a try with Hardy. To me, it seemed like a gamble that was worth taking.

I find it mildly encouraging that the team is willing to cut ties with Hardy. It wasn't so long ago that Jerry would have kept someone like Hardy around longer, despite multiple good reasons to do otherwise (team chemistry included).

I think the guy is a scapegoat for a lousy season. You cannot sell me on getting rid of Hardy, and yet keep Garrett.

I agree, he will be better this year and hopefully is in better shape. I have a feeling he will be more of an impact player this season. Whoever he may play for

I wouldn't mind having him back on a base plus incentive contract

But with his lackluster performance he doesn't deserve a big contract this year

Or I should say he hasn't earned a big contract this season

But I'm sure someone will grossly overpay for his services. I just hope it's not us!

Possibility that if he had any respect for Garrett, he might have performed much better and partied much less. Can't fault him for having no respect for Garrett though. Can fault him for his response to it.
