OXNARD, Calif. – Undrafted rookie wide receiver Eric Rogers made an early splash, putting together some nice work on the Cowboys’ first day of practice that was highlighted by an impressive catch.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Rogers, who played at Cal Lutheran in nearby Thousand Oaks, reached back against his body to snag an errant pass from quarterback Alex Tanney.
“Eric did a good job in the offseason,” coach Jason Garrett said. “He was one of those players that got better before your eyes. It’s really a tribute to the kind of young man he is. He works hard at it. It’s important to him. He’s a big, long guy, he’s got good ball skills. He showed us that in the spring and hopefully he can show that in training camp.”
Rogers rewrote the Cal Lutheran record books en route during his time with the Kingsmen, capping his impressive run with a 61-catch, 868-yard, 15-touchdown performance in 2012. He also threw two passes, including one for a 26-yard TD.
For his career, Rogers scored a school-record 45 touchdowns
