End result....

The Cardinals? Really? Yes. The Cardinals had excellent draft years in 2003 and 2004, selecting six players who have started over 100 NFL games (with their careers still in progress) and three more who have started at least 64 games. This list includes Cardinals mainstays such as Larry Fitzgerald and Darnell Dockett (who have combined to start 279 out of a possible 288 NFL games) and others such as Anquan Boldin, Calvin Pace, Karlos Dansby and Antonio Smith who were lost to other via free agency or trade. The biggest problem for the Cardinals is that there are no successful quarterbacks on that list.

Other highlights include:
• The best individual draft classes to date include the 2004 Chargers class, the 2008 Chiefs class and the Cowboys 2005 class.
-The Chargers 2004 draft class produced 617 starts and 4 Pro Bowl players
-The Chiefs 2008 class has six NFL starters, four of whom are still with the Chiefs
• The worst class by a team that had a first round draft choice is the Dolphins’ 2006 class
-57 total starts from the class
• Along with the Cardinals, the Falcons are probably the team that has performed best in the draft versus expectations
-Rated 10th in the 10-year review versus expected ranking of 26
-Rated 12th in the 5-year review versus expected ranking of 32
• As painful as it is for this long-time Steelers season ticket holder to admit, their draft performance has been weak
• The Lions 10-year performance versus expectations was the worst
-Ranked 31st versus expected ranking of 2nd
-The Rams weren’t much better with 27th ranking versus expected ranking of 3rd
-The Bengals join that group with 22nd ratings in both 10-year and 5-year reviews versus expected rating of 1st and 4th, respectively
• The Browns high ranking is driven by their 2011 and 2012 draft classes, with 198 games already
started by those two classes
-Bills are next highest with 145
• Expectations for the Patriots have been high despite their typical late drafting position
-Expectation was 4th in 10-year review and 1st in 5-year review
-High number of total and third round draft choices

I think the 2005 class really boosts our score.

Suprised our 5 year ranking is as bad. Guess because of that 2009 debacle.

Should it not be quality over quantity of starts. A lot of draft picks can start at some point in time unless they are a complete bust but if they are marginal players to begin with does it really matter if they start in the grand scheme of things.

Look at the Browns on both lists. Difference between drafting and drafting well.

I think the flaw in this (which becomes apparent when you look at the rankings and then compare them with team success) is that bad teams are more likely to start rookies.

But it's fucking obvious we've gone to shit since we lost the (GOAT)Tuna's guiding hand. We'll strike big on one or two per season, but that's about all we have been able to hope for.

Was just going to post something similar. Just because players start on a bad team doesn't mean you're drafting well.

Sure, the Browns have a bunch of rookies and 2nd year guys starting. They're also a terrible team.

Which is basically all we got under Parcells as well. 2005 was a great draft.

The rest? Average to shit. Just like nowadays.

I think our drafts under Garrett have been fine. Last year wasn't the greatest..but it's too early to tell.

They have not been fucking fine.

We get like one new starter per season. That's pathetic. They end up being really good players, which is nice, but it really shows up in our zero depth.

What? The. Fuck. ?

One new starter?

Dez. Lee. Lissemore - 2010

Smith. Carter. Murray. Harris. - 2011

Mo. Crawford. - 2012 - still super early

Fuck out of here. What the fuck do you expect? 8 pro bowlers per class?

Yes ******. 8 Pro Bowlers.

I see 6 starters there. 4 of which miss SIGNIFICANT time once they become starters, and weren't starters out of the gate. I know we haven't had 7 picks per year but 6 (with 4 basically missing half their career so far) for 21 is fucking pathetic.

You clearly have no idea what you're talkin about.

Teams aren't hitting at much higher rates than that. And you are expecting insta starters on guys in rounds 4-7...that's fucking insane. Those guys need time. Crawford-Harris-Johnson etc...go find me teams that are producing at signifantly better clips than what we are over the last 3 years...

Dez lee carter Murray are studs too. They aren't some rinky dink starters.

The only thing Garrett has done here is produce in the draft. And I don't even know if he gets credit for that or not. But the fact is, we've been much better since he's been HC

Yeah... you can fault the Cowboys for a lot, but one thing Garrett has done well at is drafting.

I don't understand your criticism, sp.

Look at the guys we also supposedly wanted that we didnt take

JJ Watt
Bobby Wagner

Garrett has us drafting much better...I feel confident we will draft well under JG. He should probably be our GM, not our Hc

I love those players but the fact is we're not getting enough contributions from them (due to injury) and the non-top-heavy stars can't seem to find their way onto the field except due to injury. When they do, like Lissemore, it's blatantly obvious they aren't full time players (yet).
