Its because Griffin cant hit the broadside of a barn downfield, and also appears to have major problems reading coverages downfield.

That style of "option quarterback" is a flash in the pan, and a ongoing, continuing demonstration of why you can't run option football at the NFL level. You can get away with it somewhat at the college level, but NFL defenses are just too fast, too big and strong, and too experienced for it to be any more than a sideshow.

You have to be able to drop back, read defenses, and deliver the ball accurately and on time, to the right guy. And seldom can you convert a "option" guy to the pro-style drop back passer.

That's not what they are, and it's why they are a "option" quarterback in the first place. Because they can't fucking cut it.

This long trial and patience shown for Griffin is mostly because of his skin color. He's a little social experiment and they are invested in him doing well.

They gave up on Tebow for all the same reasons we see Griffin failing. But had Tebow been a black guy, he would still be out there on somebody's roster, mucking it up.
