Will finishing 8-8 get him an extension? Id love to find a guy like Chip Kelly. Sumlin would be interesting. That fast pace is killer. Plug in any QB and the offense can still function.

The way this team plays defense, and you want to hire this guy?

They haven't played defense or tackled since the day he showed up there have they?

If that mother fucker gets an extension for going 8-8, I swear to god, I'll take up bowling or something. I don't love football anymore. I'll be damned if I'm going to watch this shitfest any longer.

I really, really don't see how they can bring Garrett back if they don't at least make the playoffs, especially after that debacle Thursday

Good chance the stadium will be 25% or more empty for the last home game of the yr vs Indy, and those that are there will either 1) Cowboys fans that will be booing the Cowboys and Jones out of the stadium or 2) Colts fans laughing their asses off at those 7 offensive TDS they are gonna score

Playoffs or not, I can't see us losing four in a row... So the sell will be that Garrett finally had a winning season. That's improvement, after all.

You know it'll happen.

Actually 2009 was in Jerryworld. But Garrett's never had one.

How pitiful is it that 9 wins could save your job after starting 6-1... But that's what'll happen.

I really don't think 9 wins does it.

That'd be 5 straight non playoff seasons. Season tickets are too expensive and I could see non renewals at a high point since the new stadium opened, the apathy over this team will be at 2000-2002 type levels again.

I think he needs to finish 11-5 and at least get into the playoffs. Maybe 10-6 and a non playoff season saves his job (they can point to tie breakers or something as an excuse) but 9-7 after an 8-3 start and the type of talent they have on this offense cant possibly save Garrett from the chopping block IMO

Are there season tickets with that option? I would think that most seats have a seat license but I'm just guessing.

I checked and each seat does have a PSL, but it does say its the option of the PSL owner to actually renew the season tickets (which must be done annually). It does say if a PSL owner non renews their seats then they forfeit whatever they have paid for the PSL. I have no idea how much that is.

Wow, I didn't realize that. Because as for how much the PSLs were... They cost a fortune. I don't know about every last one of them, but many (most?) were tens of thousands of dollars.

No wonder we have so many opposing fans. If current fans are unhappy, they can't get out of the contract and are basically chained to those tickets. The team can't sell them to new Cowboys fans who might want them -- the current customers pretty much have to put them on the market. And that's when we get 60% Texans fans or whatever.

And as much as I wish you were right about Garrett, I don't think Jerry would ever fire Garrett at 9 or 10 wins even if we didn't make the playoffs. They'll all just sell it as a bad break -- just bad luck that particular year that a record that normally makes it couldn't. But we're improving, we just need one more good draft, blah blah blah.

Yep, excuses for Jerruh to keep carrot top are built in and myriad.

And you know what, as much as I know Garrett is a huge bag of spare, I could almost understand not firing him if we got to 10 wins. Not for him, because he adds nothing, but for the coordinators. Marinelli really has done a good job with a bunch of scrub talent, and Linehan seems to connect with Tony.

Speaking of that, did anyone catch what Joe Buck said during the game Thursday? "Linehan has done a really good job of holding Tony accountable for what he calls at the line." IOW, Garrett couldn't or didn't. Next Tom Landry, y'all.

Anyway, what would really suck even worse than keeping Garrett, if that's possible, is if Marinelli left for Tampa and Callahan got an OC job. Add some lesser coaches to the mix plus a little less of the great injury luck we've had this year and next year could be a real disaster.

Not to mention the known personnel changes that must come. This season is the last hurrah for most of this bunch of Cowboys.

That's true, and/or what happens when a lot of guys get their big contracts? They may not play the same. Probably human nature.

It's not like we haven't seen that exact thing happen before. They get the big money, and make a "business decision" to back it off a couple of notches, to avoid injury and all that rot.

OR....

They suddenly develop a chronic hamstring or other non x-rayable soft tissue injury that keeps them benched most of the time. One that magically disappears when they finally get released, and sign with another team. Miles Austin, anyone.

Plus.... Might as well say this right now.

I think you do whatever it takes to get this guy if he comes out early for the draft. (Pretty sure he will.)

We lost two in a row. I can see us losing to the Bears, then the Eagles again, and the Colts. If that happens... then the team has quit on Garrett, and I can see them losing to the Redskins. It'd make their season to sweep the Cowboys, and keep them from having a winning record for the fourth straight time.

I think we'll fare better against the Bears this year. Nor is the Colts game an automatic loss. Luck can't overcome all of their deficiencies by himself.

He doesn't have to fire Garrett, just don't extend him.

Right, but same difference. Not bring him back is what I mean.

And I'm with bb, I don't think we collapse. Bears may not even want to play anymore since they're out of it. Skins will probably be in absolute disarray by the final week. I think we win 10 or even 11 games.

Which don't get me wrong, isn't because we're run well or because of some grand plan. Just luck and breaks, and Romo.
