Redskins waived WR Josh Doctson.

The Redskins could still trade Doctson ahead of 4 PM ET, though it's doubtful he'd attract much interest. Drafted 22nd overall in 2016, the former TCU standout never panned out in Washington, averaging a tepid 33.3 yards per game with eight touchdowns over 33 appearances for the 'Skins. Set to turn 27 in December, if Doctson was going to break out, it probably would have happened by now. With Doctson out of the mix, Washington will turn to Paul Richardson, Trey Quinn and tight end Jordan Reed as their primary pass-catchers.

Vikings waived WR Laquon Treadwell.

Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Vikes are still trying to trade the 2016 first-rounder, but this move has been a long-time coming. A possession/YAC-type receiver coming out of Ole Miss, Treadwell couldn't get on the field as a rookie and was scarcely more successful as a second- or third-year pro. 35 of his 56 career receptions came last season, though he averaged a truly pitiful 8.6 yards in the process. Those are the numbers of a blocking tight end. Although he's still only 24, Treadwell is not going to be an attractive "second chance" prospect on the open market.

Seahawks acquired DE Jadeveon Clowney from the Texans.

The Houston Chronicle, which has been all over the story, reports the Seahawks are sending a third-round pick and linebackers Barkevious Mingo and Jake Martin Houston's way. The Texans had been desperately trying to acquire offensive linemen. It's a massive admission of defeat after they had been zeroed in on Dolphins LT Laremy Tunsil. As for the Seahawks, it's a coup for a defensive line that desperately needed one. Pete Carroll's front seven will now have a little juice as it waits for DT Jarran Reed to return from his six-game suspension.

Chiefs signed RB LeSean McCoy, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year, $4 million contract.

The deal includes $3 million guaranteed. Fantasy owners may be — correctly — tempted to view McCoy as just a "body" at this point, but Andy Reid isn't giving someone he views as a body $3 million guaranteed. That's $900,000 more guaranteed than Damien Williams got last December. McCoy was reportedly offered a similar contract from the Chargers but opted to sign with Kansas City due to his history with Reid. The ex-Bills veteran was brutal in his age-30 season, averaging a career-low 3.2 yards per carry, but he’ll undoubtedly suck out usage from both Williams and rookie Darwin Thompson given his familiarity with the offense. A big name with a proven track record, the 31-year-old could muster a respectable season if he truly does have anything left in the tank.

Texans waived RB Damarea Crockett.

Briefly in the running for No. 2 duties this summer, Crockett ended up getting passed by fellow UDFA Karan Higdon. His fate was then sealed when the Texans acquired Carlos Hyde from the Chiefs. Crockett rushed 24 times for 97 yards (4.0 YPC) and a score this summer. Still only 21, Crockett has intriguing traits. He will likely be developed on the practice squad.

Eagles signed QB Kyle Lauletta to their practice squad.

Lauletta will start on Philly's practice squad, but it wouldn't be shocking to see him replace No. 3 signal-caller Clayton Thorson on the active roster at some point. The 2018 fourth-rounder of the Giants notably tossed four scores this preseason, but still comically has more interceptions (1) than completions (0) in the regular season so far.

Browns claimed TE Ricky Seals-Jones off waivers from the Cardinals.

Seals-Jones was pushed out of Arizona with Kliff Kingsbury likely using more four-receiver sets than anyone in the NFL. He'll have to settle in as a low-snap player behind David Njoku in Cleveland, but there's still some hope that Seals-Jones can grow into being a backend starter.

Redskins claimed RB Wendell Smallwood off waivers from the Eagles.

Smallwood couldn't quite crack the Eagles' suddenly-full backfield, but he's found a new home in Washington. He posted respectable 211-850-5 rushing and 47-388-2 receiving lines in 37 games with the Eagles from 2016-2018, although it's tough to see him getting much consistent work in Washington. Adrian Peterson and Derrius Guice are expected to soak up most of the unit's early-down reps, while Chris Thompson is locked in as the offense's pass-down back.

Raiders claimed QB DeShone Kizer off waivers from the Packers.

The Raiders will now decide which two quarterbacks out of Kizer, Nathan Peterman, and Matt Glennon to keep. There probably isn't a right answer, and it won't matter as long as Derek Carr stays healthy. Kizer will likely bounce from team to team for the rest of his career.

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe suggested K'Keal Harry (ankle, hamstring, toe) could be a candidate for injured reserve.

Beat reporter Mike Reiss of ESPN recently hinted that Harry could be a spectator for Week 1 following an injury-plagued summer and not looking "comfortable" at recent practices. Now Volin is painting an even bleaker picture, suggesting the first-round rookie might not be available until midseason. Harry's fantasy stock has been plummeting since Josh Gordon's reinstatement and obviously the uncertainty surrounding his various injuries isn't helping matters. He's merely a late-round stash, and a risky one at that.

Cardinals signed QB Kyle Sloter to their practice squad.

He was slated to work out for Detroit on Monday but obviously that won't be necessary now. Sloter had a monster preseason in Minnesota, shredding defenses for 443 yards and four touchdowns on 39-of-51 passing (76.5 percent). Undrafted out of Northern Colorado in 2017, Sloter has yet to play a regular season snap.

Chargers GM Tom Telesco has informed holdout RB Melvin Gordon that contract negotiations will be suspended until after the season.

Gordon will now have to decide if his weekly game check ($330,000) is worth risking an injury that would jeopardize a long-term contract. That decision hasn't been announced, but we'll find out shortly. Gordon still has to show up by Week 10 for this season to count towards his free agency, so this isn't exactly a Le'Veon Bell situation. With the Chargers bye week not until Week 12, Gordon could miss more than half of the season if he chooses. If so, Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson will split work in what should be a 60/40 timeshare.

Chargers placed SS Derwin James on injured reserve with a stress fracture in his right foot.

This was the expected outcome for James, who was lost to a stress fracture midway through training camp. Early reports pegged him for a 3-4 month recovery, suggesting there's still a chance we see the All-Pro safety suit up at some point this year. The Chargers will likely use their roster vacancy to bring back Jaylen Watkins, who was among their final cuts Saturday.

Raiders placed QB Nathan Peterman (elbow) on injured reserve.

The move makes sense given Oakland's odd acquisition of DeShone Kizer off waivers Sunday. The team will now go into the season with Mike Glennon as the No. 2 signal-caller behind Derek Carr. Neither Glennon or Kizer are expected to see the field this year barring a mid-season injury to Oakland's clear-cut starter.

Coach Jay Gruden told reporters Monday that Jordan Reed remains in the concussion protocol.

Reed didn't practice Monday. This is Reed's seventh reported concussion, so it wouldn't be at all surprising if he misses the team's Week 1 matchup against the Eagles. Vernon Davis has consistently taken over as the Redskins' full-time tight end whenever Reed has missed time over the years. Still, this isn't the easiest matchup against Malcolm Jenkins and company, who allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends in 2018.

My question is, who the hell were they bidding against?!

Colts signed QB Brian Hoyer to a three-year, $12 million contract.

Hoyer was also pursued by Denver following his release from New England. His deal with Indianapolis includes $9 million in guaranteed money. He'll slide in as the backup to fellow Patriots alum Jacoby Brissett. Ever the journeyman, Hoyer is headed to his eighth team in 11 NFL seasons.
