Still think the back end of our roster is bottom five in the league. Some of the guys we employ have zero NFL talent.

I think the Dustin Vaughan experiment is over. He makes me long for Steven McGee.

We need to stop trying to make Lucky Whitehead a thing; he's mediocre at best.

I like our starters so not that worried about the real games, but we had better stay healthy because these back-up's are pure shit.

Really? Maybe I've been eating the cheese but a lot of these camp reports make us sound loaded at a number of positions.

Dramatic much? Cowboys are thin at some spots like O-line but are also deep at others like cornerback.

While you are crying in your cheerios about the Cowboys 4th-5th stringers not being as good as the 49ers 4th-5th stringers, ill think about how well that young D-line played. Russell, Gardner, Jack Crawford, Gregory, Coleman, ect.

I don’t know how you can know that.
Know that previous years' preseason special teams never looked this horrendous? Observation, and memory of those observations.
The tackling isn’t very good and i would throw the defense into that mix. I don’t think preseason is ever a great indication of what the special teams will look like during the season because the lineup hasn’t been set. How do you know if you don’t know what the team consists of? I’d like to see the tackling improve.
This is all reasonable. Except for the last two weeks the tackling on defense hasn't been too shabby, especially on receptions - still not allowing much yardage after the catch. All I am saying about the special teams is I have never seen it look this terrible, and now it is two weeks in a row. That's a perfectly reasonable thing to say as well. Because it is true - they look like hammered dogshit.
Funny how he says, "Has zilch to do with this year"; while claiming that THIS year's team is an "8-8 team to its core", based upon previous years. Contradicts himself much.
That's only a contradiction in your own mind. We ARE a 8-8 team based not only on previous record and averages the last 17 years, but also because of the idiot owner, his moron son, and their golden boy marionette of a HC. Dallas is near the top of the mediocre class of the league, which consists of most teams in the league. 8-8, 7-9 or 9-7 is a perfectly reasonable expectation for this team.

The special teams literally couldn't look much worse. Huge returns all game long, FG missed, punt blocked for a TD... Just terrible all around.

I think the Dustin Vaughan experiment is over.
It was over the minute they fell in love with Showers. If he makes the roster based on special teams performance, Vaughan will be cut. They can't keep three quarterbacks this year unless it's because one of them earned a spot with special teams play. Vaughan might have to be cut anyway, Showers or not, to keep roster spots for the two suspended players. But then he will be immediately picked up by Nawlins or someone else, and WILL be a star in this league. He has all the tools, is highly intelligent and just had a bad day with San Fran throwing midseason exotic shit at him. I'd like to see Vaughan just once, with the starters for a entire first half. Several other teams in the league are slobbering at the prospect of taking Vaughan away from us. And, one of them will.

For two weeks in a row. Nothing was addressed, much less fixed.

Plus, people seem to be pretending none of these guys ever played punt and kickoff coverage in college, that this is all new to them or something. It's crap. They fucking suck, and no amount of Homer rose colored glasses changes that fact.

You know there's this whole other forum where you can wear your skirt and pom-pom's with pride.

Here we are allowed to discuss the team's weaknesses. Your recent level of homering has been sickening to watch/read.

Anyway, we are thin at more than O Line. Our back-up WR's look horrible. The 3rd and 4th-string QB's should not be in the NFL, let alone wasting snaps in preseason games. The back-up safeties are bad, then again, so are the starters. Not sure how we are deep at CB...if you are saying we have 5 or 6 guys that will make the NFL team, I agree with you. If you are saying guys like Robert Steeples, Rod Sweeting, and Joel Ross are anything at all, I'd disagree. I also think Cowboy fans are overrating Tyler Patmon.

You can see just how bad some of these guys on Special Teams. What you should be seeing is hungry guys, flying all over the field, trying like hell to make the team. Instead, we look horrible on most ST downs. This is what the preseason is for, so this is not me saying we aren't going to be a good team. I think we will take the NFC East if we stay healthy and the RB-by-committee approach works.

If you want to go point-for-point and tell me how you see it differently, let's go, it's why I'm here. If you want to cheerlead, go crazy, I have no interest in reading how amazing we are, that everything we do is magic, and scoring 6 points in a preseason game is a sign that everything is going just as planned.

Yeah, Vaughan doesn't belong in the league. I know you love him, but I just do not see it. Showers is garbage too.

Dude comes with big disadvantages. Not the least of which was the offense he played in, where he only took snaps under center from Victory formation, and where all his plays were quick one read passes. And his hands are smallish - but other than all of this he has the brain, the poise and the rest of the tools. But then again so did Tony Romo have big disadvantages and few if any saw anything there, at the beginning of his second year.
I know you love him
I don't LOVE him, I am quite objective about him. I know what he can DO and I know other teams are watching for him on the waiver wire for very good reason. We'll be sorry we let him slip away, just hide and watch.
Showers is garbage too.
He's got some upside. He won't make the team at all if it's not due to special teams play - which hasn't been all that dazzling from him either.

And of course, when we DO go 8-8 or 9-7, the homer excuses are already built in. We lost Murray! There will be a whole list of such laments for why we fell, all of which are just window dressing to avoid admitting this is just a mediocre team. Homer D. Clown can never, ever admit that.

Forget RB. One injury to Dez or Williams and Devin Street is a starter. Devin .. Street.

Exactly. If you want to say our offense looks terrible because Romo and Tyron and Dez and Witter are out, fine. But special teams is about talent and effort, not perfect coordination and years of experience. Important starters won't be playing on those units anyway, so their absence is no excuse for looking awful.

Quit crying.
I bet the team only looked terrible because they were tired from the physical and demanding camp they've been running. Probably all part of the bigger plan from our stellar coach and front office. :towel

One fluke fucking 12-4 season brings out the cheerleaders that's for sure.

I am a realist. You guys are just negative because it’s the only acceptable emotion on this forum. It’s cool to be negative here. I see things for how they are. This is a very talented team. Sky is the limit. I have nothing but positive thoughts.
