Cowboys beat writer David Moore answered your questions in a chat Monday. Here are some highlights.
Can you explain the drop off in Mike Jenkins' play?
It wasn't a Hamlin thing. It was Jenkins taking a step back.
Jenkins believes that may have been part of the issue. The Cowboys asked him to play off the ball a little more than they did the previous season and he believes that cut into his aggressiveness and effectiveness. An argument could also be made that the Cowboys had him play off the ball more because his technique slipped and he was getting beat more.
How quickly can we anticipate some of the dead wood players getting cut?
The reason I don't think you'll see the Cowboys or other teams cut these players right away is because they have no idea of what rules will be in place going forward. What if the labor impasse goes on for so long that once league operations resume there is only a seven to 10-day window for free agency? What will the cap be? Who will be free agents under the new agreement?
There are too many unknowns to flood the market now with players you don't think you want.
Why were Campo and Houck allowed to keep their jobs after last season?
Both men have done a quality job for this organization for a lot of years. But you could see by what the Cowboys were trying to do with their staff - adding an assistant offensive line coach for Houck and showing interest in other defensive backs coaches - that the organization is trying to transition to the future with a staff that does not include Houck and Campo or puts them in different roles.
