Looks like Holland still has the yips when it comes to the Yanks. 2 run first for them.

He will settle down. He opens shaky sometimes, and it cost us this time. I think he will settle into a groove.

If he doesn't, forget I ever said this.

He has calmed, but his PC is getting high, and he doesn't seem to have his location down. Would not be surprised to see Feldman in the game in the 5th or 6th.

Not for nothing, but he has only given up 2 runs in 4 innings. I wouldn't make a pitching change yet.

Sorry Ranger fans, Yanks take the first game of the series. 7-4.

There's another good pitching matchup tomorrow night.

Nationals Promote Bryce Harper, Send Ryan Zimmerman To DL

Bryce Harper, MLB | Comments

The Washington Nationals will send star third baseman Ryan Zimmerman to the 15-day disabled list, according to a tweet from the team’s public relations account. The team will recall top prospect Bryce Harper who will make his debut Saturday.

On Sat., the Nationals will place 3B Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-Day DL & recall OF Bryce Harper, who will make his MLB debut at Dodger Stadium

— Nationals PR (@NationalsPR) April 27, 2012

Zimmerman has been battling a shoulder injury for the past week. It was recently reported that the discomfort was caused by a A/C joint issue in his throwing arm. The injury reportedly only hurts when Zimmerman swings a bat.

Harper, 19, was the Nationals top pick in the 2010 MLB Draft. In 20 games at Triple-A this season he has hit .250/.333/.375 with one home run and three RBI. Last year in his first professional season he hit .27/.392/.501 with 17 home runs and 58 RBI.

Delmon Young arrested in NYC
Updated: April 27, 2012, 8:39 PM ET

NEW YORK -- Detroit Tigers left fielder Delmon Young apologized to his team and fans Friday, just before getting arraigned on a hate crime harassment charge for a fight at his hotel during which police say he yelled anti-Semitic epithets.

Young posted a $5,000 bond at a brief hearing in Manhattan court and was released less than an hour before the Tigers' game against the Yankees. He faces a misdemeanor aggravated harassment charge that entails targeting someone for his or her religious beliefs. If convicted, he could face up to a year in jail.

Wearing a dark suit, Young said nothing during his arraignment.

In a statement, however, Young said: "I sincerely regret what happened last night." He apologized to the Tigers owners and organization, his teammates, family and Detroit fans.

"I take this matter very seriously and assure everyone that I will do everything I can to improve myself as a person and player," Young said.

General manager Dave Dombrowski did not discuss Young's arrest before the game. Tigers spokesman Brian Britten said Dombrowski would talk after he resolved several issues.

Young's jersey hung in his locker in the visitor's clubhouse at Yankee Stadium and his helmet was in the dugout rack Friday afternoon before the Tigers were to play the Yankees, but he was not in the lineup.

"My lineup's up," manager Jim Leyland said tersely when asked if he had to rethink his batting order for the game.

The Tigers arrived in New York at 10:30 p.m. Thursday after their plane sat on the tarmac for 2 hours, 15 minutes in Detroit, according to Leyland.

Around 2:30 a.m., Young was standing outside of the Hilton New York. Nearby, a group of about four Chicago tourists staying at the hotel were approached by a panhandler wearing a yarmulke and a Star of David around his neck, according to police. After, as the group walked up to the hotel doors, Young started yelling anti-Semitic epithets, police said.

It was not clear whom Young was yelling at, but he got into a tussle with the Chicago group, and a 32-year-old man was tackled and sustained scratches to his elbows, according to police and the criminal complaint.

Both Young and the group went inside the hotel, and at some point, police were called, and Young was arrested, police said. Young was first taken to a hospital because he was believed to be intoxicated, police said.

Defense attorney Daniel J. Ollen said accounts of the fight have varied. He said there was video, which he hasn't seen, that showed someone in another group of people said something to Young before the scuffle.

"He clearly reacted to something that was said to him," Ollen said.

Joe Torre, Major League Baseball's executive vice president for baseball operations, visited with Leyland during batting practice but would not speak to the matter.

"We can't comment because we're still gathering information," Torre said.

Young went 0 for 3 with a walk in a 5-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. He is hitting .242 with one home run and five RBIs, is signed to a one-year contract for $6,725,000 and can become a free agent after the season.

In 2006, Young was suspended for 50 games without pay by the International League for throwing a bat that hit a replacement umpire in the chest. Young, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 amateur draft, was ejected in the first inning after taking a called third strike. He lingered in the batter's box, walked away and then threw his bat end over end at the umpire, hitting him in the chest.

The Tigers called up Brad Eldred from Triple-A Toledo after Detroit's sixth loss in seven games on Thursday. Eldred was hitting .388 with 13 HRs and 35 RBIs in20 games for Toledo and Leyland indicated that he would see significant time as the designated hitter.

Young is due back in court on May 29.

Man, what a bummer about Mariano Rivera.

Awesome career, most likely over.

The Yankees cant buy a break this year it seems.

The sad thing is that we were a poor team with Mo. Between him, Pineda, Joba, Hughes, Garcia, an ancient Pettitte, and a sputtering offense, we're a long-shot just for the wild card.

Oh nice I found where all the fags hang out.

While we're all discussing shit that was relevant in 1920, did y'all hear that radios might one day be replaced by these boxes that show black and white images of people?!

Fuck yeah it's true, nucka

Rangers got Oswalt:

Sources: Rangers sign Roy Oswalt

Updated: May 29, 2012, 6:29 PM ET

Free agent pitcher Roy Oswalt has signed with the Texas Rangers, sources told ESPN's Karl Ravech on Tuesday.

The signing of free agent pitcher Roy Oswalt gives the Texas Rangers some insurance, Richard Durrett writes. Blog

• Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas

The sources said that if Oswalt is called up by July 1, he gets $8 million pro-rated -- 4 million in his pocket. He can also earn an extra $1 million in incentives if he makes 10 starts.

A source told ESPNDallas.com's Richard Durrett that Oswalt could be ready to join the Rangers rotation by June 20.

The deal was first reported by The Dallas Morning News.

The St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers all were interested in Oswalt and made various offers, some exceeding that of the Rangers, sources told Ravech. Oswalt had given teams indications that Texas was his destination of choice. He has a close relationship with club president Nolan Ryan, and he apparently likes the thought of pitching for a contending team that's close to his Mississippi home.

Oswalt, 34, has a career record of 159-93 in 11 seasons with Houston and Philadelphia. He is a three-time All-Star who has finished among the top five in National League Cy Young Award balloting five times in his career.

After waiting until spring training and failing to land a job to his satisfaction, Oswalt told major league clubs in late February that he planned to wait until midseason to return.

Oswalt threw for the Rangers in Mississippi on May 18 and that same night, Neftali Feliz had command problems and walked five Houston Astros and wasn't able to throw a full five innings. It was discovered shortly thereafter that he had a sprained ligament in his right elbow. He isn't likely to return to the rotation before the All-Star break.

Oswalt will need a few starts in the minors to pitch to hitters and build arm strength before joining the rotation. Scott Feldman, who won 17 games as a starter in 2009 for Texas, is currently holding down Feliz's spot and likely will continue to do so until Oswalt is ready.

Some Rangers players saw the news on Twitter prior to stretching for batting practice and were talking about it.

"Hopefully, he can get back to the form that he was previously before the back issues," setup man Mike Adams said. "If he can, he'll help us out a great deal."
