Yeah I've been looking at some of his clips. Houston would have probably been better served having him rush the passer all the time.
That said if we pick him, he can help at DE on obvious passing downs and maybe play SOLB too on run downs. I saw some of his coverage ability on a few of the clips, he is really agile. Would be a potential massive upgrade over Kyle Wilbur.

Cowboys Rumors: Adoree' Jackson Reportedly Targeted in 1st Round of NFL Draft
The Dallas Cowboys need secondary help and could be targeting one player in particular.
According to Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst, cornerback Adoree' Jackson of USC is a target in the first round. The Cowboys currently have the No. 28 pick in the NFL draft.
Pauline also notes Clemson cornerback Cordrea Tankersley could be a target in later rounds if the team goes in a different direction early.
Despite a 13-3 record, the Cowboys ranked 26th in the NFL in passing yards allowed in 2016. The team then lost cornerbacks Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne to free agency, as well as safeties Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox.
Fortunately, this class is generally considered a big one for cornerbacks with Marshon Lattimore, Quincy Wilson and Gareon Conley all considered impact players who will potentially be taken early. Although Bleacher Report's Matt Miller listed Jackson as his No. 10 player at the position, he still has tons of upside as "one of the most athletic players in the class."
The USC star had five interceptions this past season and is a game-changer on special teams with eight combined punt- and kick-return touchdowns in his career.

I'm good with him at 28 too.
Upside is he could become a really good starting CB. I think worst case with him is he's a good nickel/dime guy and all pro returner. Also a guy you could create a few special offensive plays for. As someone mentioned (maybe you) he would be lethal on those jet sweeps we've been running with Lucky Whitehead.
Would definitely be a huge get for us for special teams/field position and I think he's a potential playmaker at CB too.

That fair to say for Gregory, but unless you know people in every other organization in the league and have confirmed none of them would have drafted the kid it really doesn't apply to Jaylon Smith because we took him near the top of that round.
You could say he probably wouldn't have been picked by anyone else in the 2nd, but we don't know that for a fact.

SportsDayDFW "Ballzy" podcast hosts Evan Grant and Barry Horn talk Dallas Cowboys and NFL draft with The Ticket's Sean Bass and CBS analyst Dane Brugler. Here are some of the highlights.
Pass-rush possibilities
Barry Horn: What about the pass rusher? Who might be there?
Dane Brugler: Similar situation with the pass rush at the end of the first round. The difference being I think we're gonna see more of a run on these pass rushers early in the first round. If pass rush is king, we're gonna see those guys go early. In the 20s, that's when we might see guys like T.J. Watt, Taco Charlton, Tyus Bowser come off the board. Bowser's really the interesting one, the pass rusher from Houston. A player who I know the Cowboys like quite a bit. Rod Marinelli, he loves those right ends who can really put pressure on the quarterback, disrupt rhythm of the backfield. That could potentially be Tyus Bowser. It was frustrating watching at Houston because, in their 3-4 scheme, he played outside linebacker. But they would ask him to drop. Basically, he was a Ferrari kept in the garage. But when you look at the athleticism ... he is a fun player. I think that Tyus Bowser is a name that Dallas fans need to keep in mind.
Mahomes and Garrett
Barry Horn: Would the Cowboys be absolutely insane to take him (Patrick Mahomes) in the second round?
Dane Brugler: He won't be there at 28, let alone the second round. He's gonna go somewhere in the top 27 picks. Mitch Trubisky will be the first quarterback drafted, likely somewhere in the top 10 picks. And then Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes are both kind of wild-cards. They could go in the teens, they could go in the 20s. Patrick Mahomes is hot right now, in terms of the buzz around the league. He's interviewed very, very well. The question is how early before he can get on the field. He's a true junior. He's going to be asked to do things at the NFL level that he wasn't asked to do in college. That doesn't mean that he can't do it. Patrick Mahomes is probably the wild card of the first round.
Barry Horn: What round would you not have a problem with the Cowboys taking a quarterback and whom might that be?
Dane Brugler: You have to wait until day three. You can't take a quarterback in the first three rounds, all things considered. These quarterbacks are gonna get pushed up. Davis Webb, D-FW native from Prosper. I'd love to see him in the fourth round, but he's gonna go in the second because these quarterbacks are gonna get propped up. It would be smart for them to take a quarterback in the mid to late rounds.
Sean Bass: I wanna talk about the very top of the draft and a couple of local products.
Dane Brugler: I think Myles Garrett, he's the clear-cut No. 1 guy. I think 31 teams would draft him number one overall and then you have the Browns, picking No. 1. Who knows what they might do? They're strongly considering Trubisky there. A source who has never let me down before told me you cannot rule it out. There are certain voices in that building who really want Trubisky and they don't think he'll be there at 12. He won't be there at 12. My working comparison all along has been DeMarcus Ware. It's hard to compare a player who's never taken an NFL snap to a future Hall of Famer. Myles Garrett is even bigger than DeMarcus Ware was during his playing days. There's so much to like there. Myles Garrett is a home run pick. I still think that'll be the pick. And Solomon Thomas ... is he gonna be an edge rusher, is he gonna be an interior player? I think he could be a star at either spot.
Barry Horn: If the draft goes perfectly for the Cowboys in the first two days, give me the three names you'd like to see them come away with.
Dane Brugler: In an ideal world, I would love to see the pass rusher T.J. Watt in the first round. Round two, I think you'd really need to go corner at that point and Cordrea Tankersly from Clemson. In the third round, let's go with a safety ... Justin Evans from Texas A&M, Xavier Woods from Louisiana Tech. One of those two guys would be a good fit.

I don't want our brain trust of a GM trying to outsmart the rest of the league by taking a player that every other team keeps passing on because he thinks we know something that no one else knows or because he thinks we have the medical staff in place to handle their drug problem or injury

Yeah give me either Bowser, Watt or Jackson at 28. If they could trade down and still get Bowser early in the 2nd that would be great too.

Clarence Hill reporting that the Cowboys love Derek Barnett and would consider trading up to get him if he falls enough.

Mike Mayock mocks Tradavious White to us tonight, CZ "experts" have board meltdown over it.
First, its a mock draft.
Second, he's a good player at a position we need help at. Of course all those dimwits think is "MORRIS CLAIBORNE!!!!! AHHHH!!!!!!LSU!!!!!!!"
I also love how they all throw their "expert" opinions out there and find it interesting that almost any player mentioned as a 1st or 2nd rd pick for us should be "picked in 3rd and 4th rd", even though every piece of info they have to look at says said player might be a top 30, top-50 or top 60 player.
