He's on IR you grouchy shit. He isnt hogging up a roster spot for somebody that CAN play.

He doesn't count shit against the cap. He looked like he has talent the brief amount of time he was actually on the field but nobody has seen enough of him to know for sure. Nothing wrong with storing him away till next offseason. If he stinks or cant stay on the field then, he'll be gone.

That's the mentality that has paralyzed this team for a decade and a half.

We take a mid-round flyer on a small school guy hoping he develops into the next hidden gem, and hold on to him until we have no other option but to cut him. If the guy shows something on the practice field, he's secured 3 years of being with the club. Who cares if they do anything in games?

Meanwhile, the front office wonders why our depth is shit.

Matt Johnson appeared to be vastly more talented than Caleb McSurdy, and he plays a position we are not set in stone at like MLB.

I keep hearing crap like "they kept him because he was a Jerry pick" but the fact is they've cut other draft picks in recent years.

McSurdy was also a "Jerry pick" by the way.

They IR'd Johnson because they want to give him another chance next year. Cost them basically nothing to do it.

I hate to say it......but I actually agree with dbair here. I threw up in my mouth a little bit saying that.

Compare Johnson to Arkin. If Johnson was hogging up a roster space, then by all means it is worth complaining about it. As it is, he's on IR, so who cares if they hold on to him and bring him to camp with the other 92 people going to camp?

I agree the odds are against him ever contributing, but it isn't like they are keeping him on the roster, keeping him inactive every week and hoping he somehow develops. Be more pissed about Arkin.

I wasn't thrilled they kept Arkin, but unlike a guy like Weems Arkin did seem to play ok at times during preseason, although I thought they might keep Kowalski instead because he can play G & C. Also wasn't sure what Frampton did to earn a roster spot. I think Weems, Frampton and Arkin are 3 guys who might be here today, but might not be here in a week or two.

By the way, did they re-sign Armstrong? DC.com has him back on the roster. All the other recent moves are on there, but he is listed again.

No, whoever does the roster sucks. They are always late or wrong. Armstrong was still on it and Livings still showed active last time I checked.
