This article covers a unique traffic incident in Amarillo, Texas, where a man was spotted riding an electric scooter at speeds of 60-65 mph in the center lane of I-40, a busy interstate. Wearing casual attire (shorts, sneakers, and a t-shirt), the man surprised drivers, as motor-assisted scooters are generally regulated like mopeds or electric bicycles in Texas.

State laws restrict scooters to roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less and allow their use on bike paths or sidewalks. The article also highlights traffic safety laws, including helmet requirements for motorcyclists under 21 or those without safety training or medical insurance.

It’s an unusual and attention-grabbing story that also points to the importance of adhering to traffic regulations. What are your thoughts on this daring ride?

I'd be prone in my younger years to ride a scooter on I-40 in Amarillo like the guy I posted does, but there is NO way I'd even entertain that on the Stemmons freeway in Dallas!
