A driver is facing charges after the biggest pileup on the Massachusetts and Rhode Island border in recent memory.

According to Rhode Island State Police, at just before 9:00 a.m., multiple emergency response agencies responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Route 195 West in East Providence.

A tractor-trailer traveling west failed to stop for traffic, colliding with approximately twelve vehicles. Thirteen individuals, including the tractor-trailer operator, were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. One female driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The operator of the tractor-trailer, 64-year-old Jon P. Main of Cranston, RI was charged with Driving to Endanger, Resulting in Physical Injury and will be arraigned following release from the hospital.
