So MM has hired three ppl. All of them were previous HC’s. Granted Fossel was only an interim HC for a bIt but you get the point.

We Have had a huge infusion of experience where even our O line coach was a former HC

And all the guys he's brought on are no nonsense people that will hold these players accountable...old school

After the debacle that was Fat Wade, I am sure we all gave Ginger a "honeymoon." And thought we liked some of the changes we saw. Thought Romo's "development" was mainly due to Ginger. Etc. Three years straight of 8-8 ended that "honeymoon" and I for one went straight for the pitchforks and torches, after the second one such.

The truth is that the stakes are already high. McCarthy has to reach the NFC championship at the bear minimum already in 2020. And go to a SB in the next 3 years.

If he doesn't, his tenure here will be short. Jerry didn't get rid of his adopted son just to get into divisional rounds every two years.

I'm still annoyed the old man didn't even try to contact Urban Meyer.

Meyer would have been my first choice but heard a couple of things that probably would've never happened with the most consistent being that Meyer would want full control of everything and even if that senile fuck initially said sure you know that would change as soon as Meyer started getting any love.
I think he brings the same skins to the wall as McCarthy as far as building a winning culture and he would have the players ears based on that.
I don't know that stakes are that high this quickly with the 5yr contract so lets start with being competitive in 2020 and pushing for the playoffs and go from there. Its going to take at least a year to install the philosophy and culture he wants and he may not know which players fit until the season gets started. I do feel he has the most "talented" team he's ever coached but that doesn't mean shit if he can't get the to play on his scheme.

In Jerry's mind, this team is already in place. It's a contender. That's why he ultimately severed the umbilical cord with his adopted son. Stephen had nothing to do with it, he's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

McCarthy has to deliver the goods quickly. 2 years tops, in my estimation. If he fails, he'll be starring as himself again in another NBC news piece, talking about how football means everything to him and how he's learned a lot from his failure in Dallas. If that happens, my gut feeling tells me the adopted son would return with reinforced powers to clap our future away.

McCarthy's job here is to coach this team but, more importantly, to evaluate if Dak is the one. If this team signs Dak long term before the start of next season, then I expect very little from McCarty. Oh he'll get us a couple of more wins per year than Garrett may have, but we'll always fall short until we get a true franchise QB to pair with a quality coach.

I doubt he is being mandated to get to a NFC Championship or else in his first year. There's almost no way in hell he'd get fired after one yr, if you'd like to bet on it let me know.

And they did reach out to Urban Meyer (who was also the guy I wanted for the job) but it's apparent Meyer didn't want to do it.

Understood, and yep I agree with you. No way he only gets a couple seasons. He's here to instill a significant change in culture and direction and if he wholeheartedly doesn't believe Prescott is the guy after working with him closely, there will be changes at the QB spot.

That said, I do think McCarthy is going to be really good for Prescott. The quality of coaching Prescott is about to get will far and away be the best he has ever received, especially since coming to the Cowboys.
