The Cowboys informed right guard Leonard Davis they will be releasing him this week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Davis yielded no sacks and was flagged for one penalty in the last six games.

It's clear this is a cap-cutting move. The Cowboys are roughly $18.9 million over the salary cap of $120.4 million for 2011.

Cutting ties with Davis ($6 million) will give them some relief. The former Texas Longhorn was a Pro Bowler in 2007-09.

With all these guys the only question is if they agreed to re-up on a much cheaper deal.

There is/was no question Leonard would be cut.

Interesting. I wonder what the holdup with free is, not that he could sign right now anyway but there must be a big offer for him out there somewhere...
And it is interesting with the line, I think I was prepared mentally that the day would come where they just shake it up and rebuild......makes me nervous though to watch them do it at a time like this.

I have to imagine Free stays and a new right guard is signed and kosier is resigned also. Leonard Davis has struggled alot at times and he is expensive.

I think with the horrible contracts we've previously given some of our free agents to stay, it has caused us to go slowly along the process of re-signing Free.

I wouldn't mind Davis back on a cheaper deal... He played well down the stretch for us.

Columbo is as good as done.. I can't see the point in bringing him back other than us thinking Free is taking a better offer from someone else.

steve dennis just said same thing. Columbo and davis have not been cut yet.

Well nobody can officially be cut today anyway, so that doesnt mean much

I still think Colombo is cut the second they re-sign Free
