We don't need to resign Robinson. Tony has made a number of receivers look good and win games for us. Holley and Ogletree both have made plays for us. If we're spending money, it needs to be on defense.

Nothing wrong with doing both.

This team has spent countless resources / money the past decade trying to find the magic formula for a dominant 3-4 defense. Head coach, coordinators, draft picks, and FA's and are still searching for the the right answer since this crusade started.

Barring some ungodly contract demand no way you let the guy walk. We got lucky and got him back a second time. This team would be staring at the underside of .500 without him. Nothing wrong with keeping a deep stable group of wideouts. Just ask the Packers.

The Packers take a WR high seemingly every year. Hell, they just drafted Randall Cobb to add to an already deep group of WRs.

But they did re-sign James Jones. So there's that too.

It depends on the contract demands. If they are reasonable, you do it and re-sign him.

Someone mentioned Crayton's deal - 4 year 14 mil. I'd be all over that.

Robinson said something to the effect of 'talk to my agent.'

I think he wants to get paid. And if that's the case, we can't afford him most likely.

Me too. Or the James Jones deal.

However, we have to win and show that we are capable of winning championships if he will decide to take that.

This is an utterly ignorant post. Romo didn't make Robinson look good. Robinson is the real deal. He's the best route runner out of our receivers and has the best hands. In fact, he bailed out Romo a few times, particularly in the last game on the TD throw. Holley and Ogletree have not been near the level of consistancy that Robinson has been, otherwise there would have been no need for Robinson to be here in the first place. Ogletree is more than likely gone after this year, and Holley = Hurd 2.0. With Austin's hamstring that may prove to be an ongoing issue from time to time and Dez with his 10 cent brain, you'd be a fool to think we'd be alright with Dez, Ogletree, and Holley.

Yes we need to spend on defense, but let's not create a hole in our WR unit. Nobody is suggesting that we break the bank for Robinson, but we need to retain him.

Harper was a player I really liked until that game vs SF. He played like shit in the game and was actually benched, then after the game when everybody was down and out was seen/heard in the lockerroom talking about how much money he was going to get when he left. Most people dont remember but we actually almost traded Alvin Harper on draft day in 1994, we wanted to mvoe up to get Willie McGinest and had a deal in place with the Rams, but the Pats took McGinest before the Rams got on the clock.

There were only a couple players we let walk that really hurt us. Losing Ken Norton hurt, because Robert Jones was never more than average and plus it made SF a much better defensive team. Jones also hated it that we lost Russell Maryland to Oakland in 96. We lost alot of lockerroom leadership when these two guys left. When we lost Mark Stepnoski we replaced him with Day Donaldson, who although he was older was actually kind of an upgrade. He was so big and physical on the inside compared to Step, and Donaldson was having a tremendous year in 1995 before breaking his leg early in December that year. It was a big hit to the OL too.

And other than a few exceptions, almost all the guys that left never duplicated the success they had in Dallas elsewhere, including Harper, who was a mega bust in Tampa.

I forgot about Maryland. That one hurt. I didn't like losing Larry Brown either. I remember distinctly being on the internet at the time because we had just gotten it and hearing on SportCenter how Oakland signed Brown and Maryland. Our line never was the same.

I never new that about McGinest. Shame that didn't happen because we looked for DEs for years until we found Ellis.

We should treat him like Belichick does all of his WRs. No one gets paid and if you make yourself bigger than the team you can find another place to go. There are plenty of guys like Robinson out there if we would quit hanging on to garbage like Hurd and Crayton. Churn the JAGs at the bottom of the roster and eventually you will find some that will work out.
