Laufenberg: Right now, I'd rather have DeMarco Murray than Cowboys rookie Ezekiel Elliott
By Babe Laufenberg
Special contributor and former Cowboys quarterback Babe Laufenberg recently hosted a chat to talk all things Dallas Cowboys with readers. Here are some of the highlights:
Question: At this point, would you take Ezekiel Elliott over DeMarco Murray?
Laufenberg: "Had this discussion with a media member yesterday at practice. Discounting age, for one season, I would take DeMarco. He has done it. The guy really set the tone for the 2014, 12-4 season, much the way I think Marshawn Lynch, even with that great defense and Russell Wilson, has set the tone for Seattle. Gives your team an identity. We know DeMarco Murray can do it -- you are keeping your fingers crossed that Ezekiel Elliott can."
Question: Is there any sign of another tight end really stepping up to give Jason Witten some help? The man is getting up there in age...
Laufenberg: "The man is getting up the in age, but the man is still, "The Man." I thought Gavin Escobar had about as good a training camp last year as any Cowboy, but when the season came around, they had him in the witness protection program. He is not a great in-line blocker and probably never will be, but I think they need to find a way to utilize him in the passing game."
