I was thinking of that exact Parcells quote. Obvious from a couple of comments in here that Lace doesn't think much of Parcells.

But yeah, we're almost back to Jerry being surrounded by only his old Arkansas/Oklahoma drinking buds.

(Though in this particular case, I do think we'll do fine in the 43 as long as, like always, we add a couple more good players.)

no doubt he dislikes him.

good ol boys dont like being fired by a more successful guy from new jersey in there own background and then having an entire fanbase celebrate it.

bryan broaddus at least 2 or 3 times a week mentions the good players they drafted while he was here and how he wanted charles woodson.........parcells fired him.....he never ever brings up all his and the front offices mistakes....but he loves to tell stories of parcells mistakes. everyday he has why parcells was wrong story.

one of the great days as a fan was when parcells came here, cleaned out everyone and brought in his own staff and said this is my show no former players or consultants are allowed.

i always find odd also how jerry bags on bill and broaddus etc.....but we are still using his scouting and drafting regiment.

its like no one has had an original thought since the guy left and all they can think to do is bad mouth him....

anyway, me-soapbox. sorry.

Interesting and a little scary. Sounds like he's been in Jerry's ear to go back to the 43 for a long time.

I've actually seen Broaddus reference how poor a job he felt they all did as scouts plenty of times.

Not to hijack the thread, but another thing Broaddus mentioned (in an article I believe, not a tweet) was how part of the problem back then was how the team really overrated their players. At the end of year analysis, everyone would rave about players that you'd think the team ought to be 11-5 instead of 5-11. Thats paraphrased, but almost exactly that BB said.

It struck a cord with me because the a day or so before I read that Broaddus quote, I read in the War Room book about the Patriots how the scouts/coaches were especially hard on players and constantly looking to replace guys on the roster.

And that is why the Patriots have been consistant competitors for a decade plus and we're going through another coaching change, another scheme change, and another off season of hope and upheaval.

Lacewell has to die soon too.

I mean, seriously... how long can these relics all live?

Lacewell was just on Ben and Skin for almost 30 minutes. They even ran way over their commercial break because it was so good.

He played a lot more coy than he did in the Smoaky (cowboyjoe shout out) interview. Said Jerry doesn't talk to him much anymore, but he would give advice if asked. Emphasized that Jerry did send him packing when he butted heads with Bill.

When asked about how he would advise Jerry regarding Garrett, he said wouldn't even have an opinion on that because he hadn't studied the offense enough. (Yeah, right.)

One interesting possible slip... He said they'd tried it (past tense) Garrett's way so maybe they were going to try something different. When Ben caught it and asked him about it, he said something to the effect of well, a lot of these coaches have been Garrett hires. Maybe it didn't mean anything, but maybe it did.

They're going to podcast it and this will be the subject of the afternoon shows and some ESPN Dallas blog posts, bet on it.

So basically they allowed a guy with two years experience as QB coach to come in and have some power. He shockingly failed, so now they're going to take away the power and give it to a GM who is equally clueless??

I see this working out quite well.
